  • "The Small Things. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ We took breakfast into the early hours of the afternoon sitting here. No intentions for the day other than really taking some time enjoy the company, conversation and make the best of the wet weather. After all, it is storm watching season. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The waves crashed over the rocks, the rain pounded against the window and I found so much comfort soaking in the views through the warmth of my coffee cup. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ While I didn’t work with the @wickinnbc this weekend, I was able to connect with them over yoga and brunch on Friday morning. That quick visit turned into a weekend of incredible surprises and a new friendship." . Caption by @allypintucci, photo by @wendy.shep on a visit to Tofino's Wickaninnish Inn last month. • All the winter feels. Photo by @a.chad on a visit to @blanketglacierchalet near Revelstoke. . Skiing in backcountry areas means severe weather and avalanches are real hazards. You and everyone in your group must be self-sufficient—carrying all the proper gear (transceiver, shovel, and probe) and have avalanche training. Familiarize yourself with #LeaveNoTrace principles and @bc_adventuresmart is a great resource to help you get informed before heading outdoors; and always remember the three Ts—trip planning, training, and taking the essentials. . • In the southeast corner of BC, one of the best-kept secrets in the ski universe quietly exists. Buried under almost nine meters of ultra-light powder every winter, the town of Fernie has been a sleeper of a ski destination for decades. This charismatic coal mining town with its picturesque main street would be a draw on its own, but add a steep and deep ski resort with just the right amenities and few crowds, and you have one of the best ski towns in North America.
