  • • SIXTH SENSE • 🐅 Humans have five senses (sight, smell, taste, hearing, and touch), however, cats have an extra sense. They have something called the vomeronasal organ, or the Jacobson organ, which processes information somewhere between smell and taste. The Royal Bengal tiger pictured here is demonstrating what is called the flehmen response. In German, the word flehmen means lip curl or curl of the upper lip. A tiger opens wide to allow the scent to reach the roof of its mouth where the Jacobson organ is located. . For those of you that have been watching the @bbcone series #dynasties , wasn't the finale with Bengal tiger Raj Bhera and her four cubs awesome? . • • JUNGLE • 🐅 For those of you that have been watching the @bbcone series #Dynasties, wasn't the finale with Bengal tiger Raj Bhera and her four cubs awesome? Bandhavgarh is such a special reserve, unfortunately it just needs to be three or four times bigger (or more) to comfortably accommodate all the tiger territories. . Visiting Bandhavgarh in November, December, just after the rainy season, makes tiger sightings much more difficult. There's water everywhere so the prey is spread out and as a result, so are the tigers. Add to that the explosion in plant growth and the jungle becomes the perfect hiding place. But when you do get a sighting the wonderful greens and colourful flowers really make the tigers stand out. . Follow me for more wildlife and adventure images @andrewsproulephotography
