  • Are you constantly working on your inner-body awareness? Being mindful of your limitations and patient with all your parts? Forgiving the ones with pain and giving gratitude to all the super bits that overcompensate? It’s amazing how much time we spend learning to love our “insides”.... Only to squash it all in one fleeting moment facing a mirror. Why do we punish the outside so much? Who told us to expect disappointment? There are times when I’m literally afraid to look in the mirror. I can be feeling amazing, walk through a restaurant, enter the bathroom and feel utterly embarrassed to walk back out. WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT? It’s abusive. It’s such a waste of energy. It’s a matter of LOVE. It’s everything. Maybe mirrors are stupid. Maybe I am. I’m going to work on smiling more this year. At myself. At my life. At my present-good and bad. I’m going to make peace with myself....on the outside too 🙏🏻 #selfcaresunday #preach #selflove #selfie #sunday

  • I’ve challenged myself the last days with going to bed without listening to anything or watching a series. I used to do this all my life because I felt it’s easier to fall asleep when my mind is distracted and I’m not in silence with my thoughts. But lately I feel so calm and grounded that I gave it a try. And I actually like it. I put my phone away (not next to me in bed anymore) read a few pages in my current book, turn of the lights and then I let my thoughts come, think gently about what comes to my mind and then... I fall asleep. And actually I feel like it’s a better, deeper, calmer sleep.

  • What are you being held by right now? Observing how we’re being held can help us feel more connected to our bodies. Sometimes it’s challenging to feel connected to our internal felt sense, so noticing external stimulation can help us bring awareness to what our bodies are experiencing. Here are some of our favorite ways of being held! What are yours?

  • Self-belief is the most powerful tool you can utilize, I have a story to share with you that goes hand in hand!!! Today I spent the day with a lifelong friend and we decided to go to beautiful Dunsbourgh for the day. I set the intention that today was going to lift my friends spirits as her energy when she arrived was very flat. We had a beautiful bite to eat and coffee at a local shop then headed off to explore some op shop's. I love checking out all the different treasures you can find at an op shop 😍 I have been for the past two weeks meaning to get a singing bowl and then at the last op shop we visited there it was. I asked the lady behind the counter if it was for sale or display. Lucky for me she said for sale. She went on to tell me no one could get it to sing and like magic I played it in the shop, it's the most beautiful healing sound. Dont worry that's not the point to this story their is more 😉 My friend had never played a singing bowl before and the first words she said was "I dont think I can". I said to her "yes you can believe in yourself and dont focus on the bowl look some where else". After two attempts she didnt make the bowl sing. I knew she could so we had a break had a laugh and I said "why don't you try again". The first words out of her mouth were "I can do it". Within 3 seconds the bowl started to sing and the joy and fulfillment on her face was priceless. It just goes to show with self-belief anything is possible. It starts with trust my friends. What a magical day it has been. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . #selflovepractice #selfbelief #singingbowls #singingbowlhealing #healingtherapy #healthybodyhealthymind #selflove #YouCanDoIt #magicintheyes #dunsbourgh #yogalover #mindsetcoaching #bodyawareness #zen #visionary #vibration #holistic

  • I've been meditating for around 10yrs now.i couldn't imagine a day without it...but I do need too ground myself out more cant wait for the real new year(spring)the season of rebirth and life🙏🏽...winter being the season of 💀.be careful where you send your energies of worship.they too hide behind masks 😱🤯. Reposted from @amnacademy - ✅Meditation by @amnacademy -- ✅A commonly practiced and simple method of interoceptive meditation is to practice heartbeat perception. -- ✅To do this, sit comfortably in a quiet place. Close your eyes and simply focus on trying to ‘feel’ your own heart beating in your chest. -- ✅The heart sits slightly left of centre in your chest. The continuous ‘lub-dub’ rhythm of the heartbeat can be perceived fairly quickly if you place your attention towards the task. -- ✅This form of directed, quiet attention is a very useful meditative practice. As the goal is to perceive a rhythmic physiological noise and sensation, it can be viewed as easier than trying to quiet the mind alone. -- ✅At first, you must make sure you are still while you try this. If, for example you were to give this a go whilst on a train, the motion and noise of the train vibrating through the body would fire so many exteroceptive sensors that it would be extremely difficult to tune in to the interoceptive awareness of your heart. -- ✅There’s no rules to be followed here. If you’re completely new to meditation, feel free to set a timer to between 5 and 10 minutes so you have a definitive start and finish time, which can help with maintaining attention. -- ✅Read the AMN article on Meditation by clicking our link in bio for more tips, how to meditate, the benefits, references, etc! -- #amnacademy #meditation #amnpractitioner #heartbeating #meditate #meditated #meditateeverydamnday #meditateeveryday #personaltrainers #personaltrainerlife #mindful #mindbody #mindbodyspiritcoach #mindbodyspirit #bhuddism #mindhack #interoception #yogafit #yogamind #yogiinthemaking #relaxedmode #bodyawareness #headspace #movementmeditation #pt #ptlife #spiritually #visualisations #focus💯 #meditación

How does one stand on them? ——————————————— My nervous system has been so full, my body shakes during down dog. During forward fold. My muscles hurt, my nerves Fire through them at odd increments. My yoga practice has changed. • Getting ready for my heart stress test today! What a neat test, it was pretty cool to run and watch my heart beat! I only ran till 93% of my total max today (doc had enough info) but set the record for longest run for a non Olympic/professional athlete (well so far! I think this cardiologist office is pretty new 😉) My bp was taken every 3 mins and the doc explained so many cool things about the heart to me! it looks like my heart is in pretty good shape! My Garmin watch heart rate monitor was totally in sync with the thousand dollar heart rate monitor machine used at the cardio clinic! Way to go Garmin! I'm stoked knowing its bang on! Our bodies are pretty awesome machines- remember to take care of yours!! Eat well, sleep well and exercise to keep this machine functioning and moving at optimal levels!! #hearttest #healthyheart #workout #nutrition #wellness #move #hearthealth #fit #fitatforty #bodyawareness #beawesome #run #running #testrun #garmin #runningwatch #lovemygarmin #smile #healthy #onelife

  • Today vs. 10 years ago (swipe) 10 years ago, I had been playing around with eating whatever I wanted and was eating meat after being vegetarian for 13 years. No more restriction. I reverted back to plant based at the end of 2009 or early 2010 after a 2 year stint eating meat and whatever I wanted. I started to consciously choose what made me feel good and nourished me. From food, to skincare, detoxing, movement, education, to beliefs, travel, and relationships. I started to really listen to my body and wanted a healthy body. Period. Not a certain weight or size. This was the beginning of my experiment and here I am today, more aware but always experimenting. There is so much that happened from then to now beyond eating. That was the start in a way for me to go inwards and start choosing what resonated with ME. The thing that remains the same is that I’m always becoming more of myself going in the direction of JOY and I think I am closer than I’ve ever been. But to be transparent you must go through the ups and downs and through the dark to get to the light. The light gets brighter with each tunnel and I’ve been through some tough ones ;) but wholeness is always there calling...💕💕💕 #tbt

  • Note to self “Each moment, whatsoever you are doing, do it totally. Simple things—- taking a bath; take it totally. Forget the whole world; sitting sit; walking walk above all done wobble; sit under the shower and let whole existence fall on you. Be merged with those beautiful drops of water falling onto you. Small things: cleaning the house, preparing food, washing clothes, going for a morning walk—-Do them totally! #Osho . . . . #yoga #mediation #wellbeing #mindbody #mentalhealth #bodyawareness #backbend #wisdom #present

  • Yoga for each phase of your cycle . Getting in touch with your cycle is very complimentary to your overall health and wellbeing. You may or may not be in tune with the different phases of your cycle but its never to late to start . Each Phase can bring about different levels of energy and an array of different emotions/moods when we become aware of this we can create or choose a practice that is better suited to the needs of our bodies as we enter into each phase . Over the coming days @natural_harmony_tcm are sharing some of my suggested practices and poses for each phase of your cycle . I personally never knew all that much about my cycle and in my younger years I think I felt more embarrassed about it more than anything! All I wanted to do is hide it! And I definitely did not acknowledge it! But as I get older, I care less about what anyone else thinks, I feel stronger in my femininity and I am more intrigued about my cycle and the benefits of being in tune with it, this practice is fairly new to me but I have certainly found being more aware has been helpful in my overall wellbeing and it is my hope that you too find it helpful. I look forward to learning and sharing more with you. Our bodies are truly magical when you really think about it. 💫 . • #Repost @crossfitoneshot with @get_repost ・・・ CrossFit Yogi Weekly Tip! ➖ We’re sorry, are your glutes sore from all those lunges, step ups and squats this week? • Half Pigeon is a great pose for weight lifters. The physical benefits include: opening the hip joint, lengthening the hip flexor, and stretching the glutes & thighs. • Half pigeon can also improve posture, lessen sciatic pain, and diminish lower back pain. Many times when we are stressed we house our pain in the lower back. Doing this position a couple times a week can help alleviate some of that and still the mind. ➖ Challenge yourself to hold the position for 2-5 minutes per side.

  • WORKOUT THOUGHTS “Transformation happens from the inside out” I mean sure... usually starts with something skin deep.. “I want to get rid of this muffin top” “I want to see a certain size, weight, measurement” “I want to get into the best shape of my life...” But if you think that’s all it is..your missing the mark! Often we think that if I can just get to (fill in the blank) goal... they you will have arrived That you will then feel all the ways Life will be a cake walk and all your problems with poof💨 I’m sorry to say but that is backwards to how it really works We have to work on BECOMING first We have to go IN first Into the ground where the seed is We have to allow the things to wash over us And THEN. Only then. Do we transform! The movement helps It’s the therapy It facilitates And BOY! This step and I are going DEEP. . . . . #myfitnessstory #riseup #loveellie #fabletics #limitingbeliefs #selfloveclub #virtualgym

  • I find that my fitness routines change with the different periods of the year. (I say periods bc in LA we don’t really have seasons 😂) When it’s cold out, I tend to want more yoga/pilates flow type workouts and extra yin type movements. Where as in the summer, I tend to love the HIIT routines and more power based workouts 💪🏼 I let my body change with the ebb and flow of the year and try not to put expectations to always be ONE way all year round. How can you honor your body and give it the type of movements it’s asking for? 🤔 I’m also curious if anyone feels the same way in this cold weather!? 🥶

  • SEGMENTAL SPINAL MOBILITY . Via the tried-and-true Cat-Cow exercise! You’ve seen this before but have you seen it performed like this? . We ❤️ this exercise (especially for low back pain) for several reasons: • improves spinal mobility in the absence of joint compression (standing = more joint compression, horizontal = less joint compression) 🤸‍♀️ • teaches spinal/pelvic dissociation and motor control - aka. How to move your pelvis separately from your lumbar spine (it is surprising how many of us have difficulty with this) 🧠 • helps us connect to our breath and learn to move with breath 🌬 . ...the list goes on but you get the idea... . To perform: ▶️ Table top position - hands under shoulders, knees under hips, neutral spine ▶️ Inhale to prepare ▶️ 🐱 Exhale start by curling your pelvis under as though “tucking your tail between your legs”, allow the lumbar spine to follow (draw belly button up) and imagine moving each vertebra one at a time between the shoulder blades all the way to the neck as you tuck your chin ▶️ 🐄 Inhale “uncurl” the tailbone and pelvis and allow the spine to sink down towards the ground into extension one segment at a time until you reach your neck and gaze toward the ceiling . Pro-tip: move SLOWLY with your breath to enjoy the maximum benefit of the stretch both on the front and backsides of your body but ALSO to evaluate where you might have difficulty moving or experience discomfort. . Can you separate your pelvis from your low back? Are you able to extend between the shoulder blades? Neck pain? A big stretch through your belly during “cow”? . Difficulty or pain with this exercise? Come see us - call or book online (link in profile)! . Tag a friend who needs this or comment/message us with questions. . #catcow #segmentalmovement #spinalmobility #lowbackpain #flexibility #motorcontrol #bodyawareness #freshtracksphysio #freshtips

  • I work with a lot of female athletes. ⁣ ⁣ It’s common for us to feel pressure in our training. We need to be strong (for a girl or whatever), but also fast because we are more known for endurance. We also have to look good-have muscles but not bulk, defined but thin arms, killer legs and a butt that obviously squats. We need to talk smart or else we won’t be taken seriously in the gym. Lastly, we need to find ways to inspire other women to do the same. ⁣ ⁣ That’s quite the order for a female in fitness.⁣ ⁣ If you’re out there understand this pressure and you feel the same way, speak out about it.⁣ ⁣ We are women and we arrived on this planet with unique desires, gifts and talents. We aren’t put out here to fit a mold-especially an unrealistic society driven model with all the perfect parts. Whatever type of fitness you are into, whatever body you get to strut, and whatever you know or don’t know about training who cares? ⁣ ⁣ You already face adversity on the regular finding the time to put yourself as a priority and getting to the gym to work on YOU.⁣ ⁣ Same as SHE.⁣ ⁣ The more together we can bond and create the support network that we need for each other. That we need for our mental health. That we need for our performance. ⁣ ⁣ The only way to lead the pack is to figure out how to lead yourself first. We don’t have to be that cookie cutter fitness chick we feel pressured to be. We can be our own authentic, confident and badass versions of women in fitness.⁣ ⁣ We can each have our own order. #breakthemold | www.fitnutrit.net |

  • Joyful vitality — working with @erinwashington.mfa in my studio. When the work is working you’re breathing better, feeling less tension, moving and speaking with greater ease, better able to be present and handle what life throws at you. I feel like so many Alexander Technique people seem so serious, and people think it’s all about having “perfect posture” and therefore get all stiff even thinking about it. “Alexandroids” 🧐. But the real work is all about dynamic movement— releasing that which holds you — the balanced relationship of the parts of the whole — your whole system— integrated. ✨ When the mind, body, and spirit are aligned we can work at our truest potential and when we take care of our selves we can work in a more sustainable way. So many people complain or explain that they feel disconnected from their body, that they are “all in their head.” Thing is, your brain is in your body— your blood flow, oxygen and energy levels are all effecting your thinking and the way you think influences how you much. The key to the work is teaching the student how to think in activity. It’s my mission to help people create freedom in their every day movements by learning how to let go of harmful habits. And let it be fun! Let’s empower resilience and foster vitality. ✨ [email protected] 📬💌 ✨ Thank you @gokateshoot for the fantastic photos. ✨ ~~ ♾♾♾➿➰〰️〰️〰️ #mindbody #mindbodygrace #alexandertechnique #thealexandertechnique #bodyintelligence #bodyawareness #mindfulmovement #bodylearning #integratedmovement #posture #poise #wellness #holistichealing
