  • The other day I had to Uber to the gym (don’t worry mom, my car was just getting serviced, everything’s fine 🤪). As we were pulling up the driver said, “Alright well go get beautiful or strong or whatever it is you do in there!” I smiled and said, “Well, getting strong is beautiful, but regardless I’m going in there to get strong!” He chuckled and and went on his way ... . One thing a lot of people misunderstand is that the gym is for aesthetics - to look a certain way, or to obtain a certain physique. For some, yes, this may be the case. But for many of us, the gym is for our mental health, it is for our headspace. The gym is our therapy. The gym is our sanctuary. . Getting strong in the gym physically doesn’t happen unless you’re able to get strong in the gym mentally. Physical health is 100% mental health - period. When you’re able to conquer that weight that you couldn’t last month, you then learn how to conquer things in LIFE that you never thought you could. You approach things with a different perspective, you continually raise the bar for yourself, you bust your ass to achieve goals, and you surround yourself with people doing the same. . Weight lifting is far beyond the physical. Lifting teaches you that YOU are in control of your headspace. You learn to push yourself, you learn to be humble, you learn discipline, you learn self-respect, you learn patience, you learn dedication. . Let me clarify ... the physical aspect that comes from weight lifting is just a bonus, it’s the cherry-on-top. But the power and strength that you learn to create in your mind ... THAT is the true beauty in strength. . •~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~• . El otro día tuve que tomar un Uber al gimnasio (no te preocupes mamá, mi auto solo estaba siendo servicios normales, todo está bien 🤪). Cuando íbamos a parar, el conductor me dijo: "¡Bien, ve a ser hermosa o fuerte o lo que sea que hagas ahí dentro!" Sonreí y le dije: "Bueno, ser fuerte si es hermosa, pero a pesar de todo, ¡voy a entrar para fortalecerme!” Se sonrió y siguió su camino ... . (Sigue leyendo en los comentarios.)
