18 Month progress pictures!
Read about my story below: ❤️
I follow a ketogenic diet and use the "protein is the goal, carb is the limit (20g net) and fat is is satisfy" approach..everyone ketos different, this is what has worked for me.
I do not track macros or calories (with the exception of keeping my carbs under 20g net). I listen to my body. If you want to calculate yours, there are lots of keto calculators online and it's based on your height, weight, etc .
I intermittent fast. I did not start this right always. I stopped feeling hungry in the morning after about 2 months. I generally follow a 16/8 (eat within an 8 hour window and fast for 16) but I listen to my body and eat when I'm hungry.
I incorporated excercise in October 2017; 9 months in, but I wish I had started earlier. I switch up what I do all the time to time but at the moment I am doing a power (weights) class at the gym 2- 3 times a week, and try to do some cardio but have been slacking so far this summer 🙈. I walk my dogs for an hour or so every night and get about 20,000 steps per day.
I do have extra skin and I don't mind it. I worked hard for this body!
Please do not compare yourself. Everyone's body responds to weightloss differently and if you are doing everything you can, YOU ARE ENOUGH!
I get comments everyday about how you hope this is your year or you wish you could have these results. YOU CAN! Put in the work, stop making excuses. Find the right "diet" and research it, and make it a lifestyle. Change your mindset and your life will change. You didn't get to the weight you are over night and it won't come off overnight either. Make a plan and be consistent. And if you stumble, give yourself a hug and keep going. I know you can do it!
Lentil Loaf Recipe
If you’re still looking for a delicious, healthy and simple vegan x-mas menu, this post is for you🤗🎄
Serving lentil loaf with some potato dumplings, red cabbage and a vegan gravy is always a good idea🧡
The basic recipe is: 300g lentils (or any other kind of legumes), 400g veggies and 200g nuts. You can customize the recipe by adding different vegetables, nuts, legumes and spices. Below I‘ll share with you my favorite combination👇🏻
Recipe for the Lentil Loaf:
• 300g Lentils, dry weight • 4 stalks of Celery
• 2 Carrots
• 100g Spinach
• 1 Onion • 1 Garlic clove • 200g Walnuts • 2 Tbsp Mustard • 700ml Vegetable Broth
• Spices of your choice .
1. Put onions, garlic, carrots and celery in a pan and „fry“ for 5 minutes with water.
2. Then add lentils and fry for another minute. Add half of the vegetable broth as well as spinach.
3. Let simmer on low heat for 30 minutes until lentils are soft. Add remaining vegetable broth in the mean time.
4. Remove pot from heat and mix cooked vegetables with a hand blender.
5. Put walnuts in a food processor and add to the veggie mix. Add mustard and combine all ingredients well until you get a burger-patty-like consistency.
6. Preheat oven at 200 Degrees C. Place your loaf in a baking tin and bake for 60 minutes (time can vary depending on your oven and the height of your loaf).
7. Let cool for 15 minutes, slice and serve with potato dumplings, red cabbage and a vegan gravy. Enjoy!💚

Question: What are you going to have for Christmas Dinner?😋🎄

For many it’s the last work week of the year.
For me- the last work week as a landscaper.
I had a dream. One not as powerful as Martin Luther king’s but to me it was everything.
I was 15 and wanted a gym.
Only problem, I was morbidly obese and didn’t really know what to do. I was active but didn’t have all the tools to lose the weight I was carrying.
At 18 I moved interstate... tried to go for a run and couldn’t. I was too fat and too unfit to run 1km.
Over the next 18 months I lost 38kg. I couldn’t make it 40 and didn’t need to anyway.
I moved back home to become a Pt and start really working on that dream.
I spent 3 and a half years working in a gym training clients. I loved it, the lifestyle. Changing people’s health and attitudes and everything the fitness industry offered.
I built a house and trained people in the garage there for a few months, while I planned on how to start my gym and nail that dream.
Finally in May I was ready. I started. Started strong and loved it. I made all the mistakes anyone could make and in 2 years when my lease was ready to renew it just didn’t make financial sense to keep going.
So, emotionally and mentally hurting I knew I needed to step back from the fitness industry to take a breath and in order to start a family I took a job. Landscaping.
It is good hard work, physical and with reward in that you can do a days work and see the progress.
Alas, it’s not for me. I’m in a place now that I can return to what I love. My family supports me and we are ready to help each and everyone that is also ready to help themselves.
If you read this to the end. Thanks and don’t forget nothing is more important than doing what you love even if you may need a break at some point.
I’ve lost it all before and that shit ain’t happening again.
Today’s my first time back at the gym in over a month. I gained weight over the last month and am now losing again. Lost 6kgs this past week! Woo! I was too scared to come back to the gym for so long because I thought people would notice I had gained weight.. lol it sounds so silly to say but honestly I kept telling my family I can’t go back because people will judge me and honestly today I just thought fk it. Worse case scenario, say someone I know sees me and thinks that.. so what? It’s not like they’re going to say it straight to my face, that’s their thought and they’re entitled to think that. My heart was pounding even on my way here and I was so nervous to walk in. Which is crazy cause a month ago, I was so excited to come to the gym to train, it was a highlight for me and I’d be annoyed if there was a day I couldn’t come and train. And again, people most likely won’t care about whatever I’m doing cause people are worrying about their own shit. A bitch is back 👊🏼
Not everyday is going to be perfect, specially within your journey of losing weight but make sure you show up and get the job done, little results is better than no results!

🏋️♀️🏃♀️Strength Training or Traditional Cardio For Heart Health?
Now, it probably goes without saying that hands down the best option for heart health is to be doing both to some degree (as well as everything in-between), but for the purposes of this article, if you had to choose between the two, which would it be?
A recent study by St George’s University in Grenada set out to determine the type of exercise that's most beneficial for heart health. Static activities (resistance and strength training) and dynamic activities (aerobic training such as walking and biking). The outcome? “Both strength training and aerobic activity appeared to be heart healthy, even in small amounts, at the population level, however, static activity appeared more beneficial than dynamic." said Dr Maia Smith in a statement to the American College of Cardiology (ACC). He also added that participants who did both static and dynamic activity fared better than those who did just one type.
Interestingly, another study published earlier this year suggested that, no matter how old you are, you'll improve your heart health if you start exercising today. 📩 Not sure exactly where to begin with strength training? DROP ME A MESSAGE and let's see if I can help 📩
What am I currently doing at the gym?
Well I’m going to be super honest. Right now I’m back at regaining my strength. With my business growing I haven’t made the gym a priority which is a NO NO.
A 2 big things I’ve learned from this.
🥦FOOD. I haven’t been consistent with my workouts but I haven’t gained any weight and that’s due to the food I eat. Although I wasn’t lifting weights, I was active and eating a plant based diet. Yes I got a little softer and lost some muscle but I’m exactly the same which would’ve never happened if I would’ve ate how I use to eat. .
🏋🏻♀️ CONSISTENCY. This is what will get you results. To burn fat and build muscle it’s about being consistent. Because I wasn’t consistent I lost my gains and also my strength. But it’s okay because now I get to rebuild it even better ❤️
