WE’RE MOVING (again) 🚙
1.5 years ago our journey (and this page) began. Bretton and I sold everything, I quit my hospital job and packed up what was left in my little Hyundai Elantra. After touring around the US and Canada for 6 months, we decided to give living in Hawaii a go 🌴
Again, we packed up a suitcase each and explored the islands for about 6 months! When the island fever hit us ~hard~ we came back home to the Midwest as our home base 🌽
Seeing as we’re obviously quite overdue for a big life change 😉 I’m writing this as Brett, myself and everything we own is yet again tucked away neatly into Hotel Hyundai and we’re en route to our soon to be new home... COLORADO 🏔
We’re going to miss our friends and family back home and I even already cried about missing my cat lol but the mountains are calling and we have a feeling we’re going to be staying for quite awhile 🥰
It’s been raining nonstop the past couple of days in California. I’m thankful for the rain, but I do miss opportunities to see sick spots in nature. Going through my photos of NM is making me feel a little less stir crazy.

Cape Reinga/Te Rerenga Wairua (dalam bahasa Māori means the leaping-off place of the spirits). Reinga bahasa Maori yang berarti the underworld.
(sambil menunjuk)". Terus saya jawab oh ini karna saya muslim. Entah dia ngerti atau ngga terus dia senyum dan bilang "you look so pretty on that" matanya ngga berhenti memperhatikan. Saya jadi salting 😅 terus kita say goodbye sambil peluk.
Apparently there’s a black market for specimens like this. Fine-furred. Rare. Mischievous. Here at Righteous Felon we can’t condone the buying and selling of exotic creatures. We’re not only animals ourselves in need of a good housebreaking, we’re also animal lovers. What we can condone is highly unlawful, achingly illicit bargaining and bartering for Righteous Felon Craft Jerky. It’s a salty, sweet, spicy, and savory market, we know, but it’s a justified one, regardless of what the CIA, FBI, or TSA want to say about it. Keep it crafty. Keep it criminal. And please, keep your Truffle-O on the down low.

Part 3: It was a handwritten scribbled note. Apparently, the couple whose guesthouse I was staying in had a daughter who was home from university for the weekend. She left a note saying she’d love to meet later. No pressure, but she’d check if I was home around 9 when her friends were planning to go out.
I went into the room and laid down. A small part of me felt offended at how this girl was intruding on my personal time. I couldn’t sleep. I was restless. I figured it was excitement at the prospect of plans with other humans -- particularly ones who haven’t rejected me.
I decided to go up to the Dubrovnik cable car to catch the sunset. I still wasn’t ready to eat meals alone, but I could manage a cappuccino with this view and a copy of “The Truth About The Harry Quebert Affair.” I spent about an hour at the top before I decided to head home to actually nap before meeting the mysterious girl who left the note. I had no idea what to expect.
Vedrana was only a few years younger than I was, and her best friend and cousin also accompanied her in the living room of the guesthouse. Only the friend, Jelena, spoke English so we were relying on her to translate for us. I taught them how to play Kings Cup like a true American, and after a few hours, we decided to go out to a club, walking through the Old Town, yelling Khaleesi at the top of our lungs and laughing. It wasn’t until that moment that I realized I was in a Game of Thrones set.
They taught me about the Maskeron legend and showed me the little gargoyle step protruding from a stone wall as soon as you enter the Old Town. If you are able to hop onto it without using your hands and hold your balance for a long time, then you’ll supposedly have luck in love.
After spending the next few hours in the club where drinking and dancing were the only language in which my new friends and I communicated, I slept happily that night. I wasn’t able to strike a balance on that gargoyle step, but for the first time in months I went a few hours without thinking about the ache in my heart. That was enough. Little did I know that the next day was going to be even better.
To be continued...
