  • A year and a three months separate these photos. And though I’m sure people will look at these and automatically go, “I like that one better!”, there’s a lot more to them than simply aesthetics. . On the left, June 2017. I was in the thick of teaching at SoulCycle. I worked my ASS off to get to that point. Two auditions then two rounds of 10 week training, and then finally graduating to teach 6 to 7 days a week, one to three times a day, to try and make a name for myself in the cut throat world of NYC fitness instruction. . I admire that version of myself so much. That girl learned to be tough. She learned to push through so many challenges. And she pushed herself outside of her comfort zone every damn day. The job is immensely rewarding, but until you do it, no one understands how physically and mentally challenging it is. I was so exhausted. I ate a ton. I napped. But my body couldn’t keep up with the demands. . On the right, this is me right now. Five minutes ago. No longer teaching at Soul, I left five months ago, and I’m working for myself instead. My body has clearly changed. And I gotta tell ya, I’m THRILLED because for me it’s a representation of the fact that I made the right decision I made for myself. The abs have softened, the thigh gap is gone, and I feel confident on the inside because I’m so sure of the choice I made to leave, despite putting 2 1/2 years of my life into it. . Regardless of the outward changes, the solid foundation of a girl who isn’t going to give up is still there. The stage I went through on the left was beyond crucial in me becoming the woman I am at this very moment, but alas, I’m really glad that that chapter has ended and the next one has begun. . My jeans from a year ago may no longer fit. Perhaps I’m not quite as “fit” as I was before. But damn, I FEEL GOOD! . . . #lifestyleblogger #fitnessmotivation #fitnessblogger #newyorkblogger #nyblogger #transformationtuesday #fitnesstransformation #beforeandafter #fitnessjourney #gainingweightiscool #bodychange #bodychanges #confidence #fuckyourbeautystandards #honormycurves #trustyourdopeness

  • I’m sure by now you have read or at least heard of the comments made by Victoria’s Secret chief marketing officer denouncing plus-sized and transgender models for his ‘42 minute fantasy.’ 😒 As someone who has avidly anticipated and watched the fashion show for the past decade, I kept my TV off last night. Before I was the mother of a baby girl, his words would have annoyed me, and offended me. But now, they enrage me. As a young woman who restricted her eating to sometimes less than 600 calories a day, worked out for hours on end, drank teas and took pills to curb my hunger just so I could be ‘skinny’ yet suffered from anxiety and depression because I was malnourished, I look at my daughter now. So perfect. Just the way she is. It kills me to think that someday she would mistreat herself the way I did all to fit into some middle-aged mans idea of a ‘fantasy.’ As if her worth is that small. I took this photo on a lazy Saturday morning filled with hot coffee, pancakes and cuddles. I’ll take this fantasy over theirs any day. • • • #everywomanisanangel #fuckyourbeautystandards #victoriasecretfashionshow #bodypositive #mombody #keepamericabreastfeeding #breastfeeding

  • How do you learn how to be ok with your body, when it looks different from your past. - People’s bodies change for all different reasons. - They may have put on weight for mental and physical health reasons. They might have had a baby, or three. They could have been in an accident or even been sick. - There can be so many reasons that cause our bodies to change and look different than they have in the past. - You might have more lumps and bumps. You could have more cellulite. You may have some new stretch marks or scars. - But you don’t need to spend your days hating your new body. - It’s ok to put on weight if it means your mental health is stronger. It’s ok to be carrying a few extra kilos because your body grew a human being or three. It’s ok to have scars from a surgery that saved your life. - Learning to be ok with your body when it looks different from your past isn’t easy. I’m not going to pretend that it is. - But if you focus on the positive aspects of these changes. All of a sudden, the extra weight, stretch marks and scars don’t seem like such a huge deal. - If you can adopt this positive mindset. You can start to see your body as an amazing machine, that helps you navigate your way through life. And not as the enemy. - What are some of the positive aspects from your new and improved body?

  • Just because you weigh more doesn’t mean you are worth less ❤️ - Weight gain is seen as such a negative thing. It’s something that people try to avoid at all costs and has this stigma of failure surrounding it. But what if weighing more meant you’d actually be happier? What if finding that balanced weight meant that you could live your life more than ever? What if you could feel confident without being that “goal weight” you’ve always imagined? What if you finally stopped dieting and actually started living? 🤷🏽‍♀️ - In no way am I saying to throw your health out the window and fill your body with crap in order to be happy, but I simply challenge you to re-think where your happiness is coming from. What are you sacrificing in order to weigh less, and is that truly making you feel fulfilled? . - Sometimes gaining weight is simply a side effect of living your best life, and that is something I will never be ashamed of (and you shouldn’t be either) ❤️

  • Rant time** So I never post about my body and how I feel about it.. but it's just so frustrating that you are not considered "beautiful" because you are not to societies standards. I may not be skinny but let me tell you, I AM beautiful. Do you know what really makes a person ugly? Judging others because they don't look like you and just having a shity attitude in general. Beauty is exuded from within assholes. 👌 #fuckyourbeautystandards #masterpiece #amputee #scars @eatthecaketoo

  • Fun fact: when I went out to shoot with @coreymorganphotography we played with many different looks and outfits and this was the one I felt most vulnerable and insecure in. I felt critical of my fat (note I’m using fat as a technical term-we all have it, fat isn’t bad). I even initially came out with a corset over this delicately bold piece and Corey suggested we ditch it, and I’m so glad she did. These photos ended up being my favorite of the day. I feel sexy and feminine and am glad I worked through some personal discomfort in a safe space created by Corey to get something I feel great about. #loveyourself

  • Body image is an issue that’s really close to my heart and I’ve been thinking a lot lately about how it affects new moms. It seems to me that women’s feelings about their postpartum bodies often get overlooked, likely because they are rarely seen on social media in a truest form. I want people to see the amazing body that gave me a stunning son and I want women to know you are a beautiful mess. All your uneven, stretched marked, c-section scared, rounded edges are completely normal to have and you should never ever let anyone make you feel ashamed of them. Life as a new mum is hard enough, give yourself a break, take off those pull in pants and throw on some oversized panties, treat yourself to a biscuit. You’ve done the most amazing thing bringing a life into the world and anyone who tells you otherwise doesn’t know shit. Self love is giving yourself a minute, not putting on makeup, making time to feed yourself, and making yourself a cup of tea. I don’t intend to diet until I am fully healed or exercise until I feel like doing so. I am not interested in what is perceived to be the ‘right way’ to look. The most important thing in my life is my family and my happiness. Social media has a way of twisting perceptions and making people feel ashamed of themselves. Take a stand and tell the perceived norms to fucking do one. Anyone who doesn’t like this post can fuck off 💕🤷🏼‍♀️ #selflove #loveislove #postpartumbody #postpartum #newmum #newmummy #bodypositive #bodypositivity #bodypositivemovement #fuckyourbeautystandards #csection #csectionscar #stretchmarks #tigerstripes #womenarestrongaf

  • “Yesterday, I donated my hair and did it live to prove hair doesn’t define you,” says photographer and activist Roshini Kumar (@rosh93), who recently donated her hair at an event organised by @oncohappy. The event was organised as a part of ONCOHappy’s #baldishappy campaign conceptualised to bridge the gap between mental health, cancer patients, and caregivers. The campaign also aimed to break stigma around baldness and hair loss, one of the top three fears of a cancer diagnosis, as per recent statistics. . • Guess how much I care about not having a ‘thigh gap’? . I seriously couldn’t give a f*ck that my thighs meet in the middle. In fact I’m pretty pleased that they do. I’ve worked hard to build up my leg muscles and they are hopefully only gonna get BIGGER! . The ‘thigh gap’ isn’t a new concept but it’s one that many of us will heard touted as an attractive feature us women should be aspiring to have. But it’s just another tool of manipulation that’s used to keep women from loving their bodies . This ridiculous idea comes partly from a fashion industry that won't acknowledge that there are different ways a woman can look, and from the pro-anorexic community that pushes unachievable body shape goals fostering the development of eating disorders . The short and sweet of it is that some women’s thighs touch together and some don’t. There’s nothing wrong with wanting to work on the muscle tone of your thighs but there is absolutely no health benefit from having a thigh gap, so it’s not a fitness goal you should set your sights on. It doesn’t make you stronger. It doesn’t make you jump higher, run faster, and it doesn’t make you healthier . If I can convince just one of you to switch your focus from meaningless, empty goals like the ‘thigh gap’ that breed potentially detrimental thoughts, to ones that are more focused on creating strong and healthy bodies, then this was a rant worth ranting . . . #thicc #strongerthanyesterday #strengthtraining #lovefitness #selfcare #positivebodyimage #eastsussex #hove #motivation #selfcare #weights #progressionnotperfection #performance #personaltraineruk #thickthighs #thighgap #sussex #fit #healthymind #fitfam #bffemale #gym #gymlife #fuckyourbeautystandards #bodyundercontruction #workouts #bff #brightonandhove #brightonpersonaltrainer #getfit

  • 👑There are times you are going to look into the mirror and ask yourself if you’re the “fairest of them all”. You’ll dissect every roll, every wrinkle, every stretch mark, every blemish, every acne mark, every scar and wonder why you have been cursed with a body that seemingly fights against you. Your mind sees what it wants to, but your heart knows the truth. And the truth of the matter is, these thoughts you have are lies cast into your brain by society and alleged beauty standards that have forced you to become your own worst enemy. This evilness cast into our world makes us starve ourselves, eat too much, take pills, exercise to the point of exhaustion, self-harm, and basically torture ourselves to be whatever society thinks we should be. I don’t know about you, but I believe it is time to take the power back. And the only way we can do that is to accept who we are as individuals and live our best lives, and to love ourselves in the face of adversity. It will not be easy, in fact, it may be one of the hardest battles you may ever face. But you’re not alone, and you are a valuable and important part of the Mystic Myne Kingdom. You are loved, and accepted, and appreciated as long as I am ruler. So... Dear Society, We are done with your bullshit. -QK 👑DON’T CALL ME PRETTY.
