  • So, long story short: I got rejected from the @chimarathon lottery. 😔 . . I took a full day off of social media to avoid seeing the rest of the running world get into the marathon. I would have taken more time but figured it’d be more therapeutic to just air out my feelings. While I’m happy for all my running friends, it’s been hard for me as I pictured myself going all out this coming year and closing out 2019 with my first postpartum full marathon (second full marathon overall) in Chicago - one year after @jonnyrunderful smashed his PR in Chitown. I can’t say it’s unfair because it’s a lottery after all so it IS fair. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I just wasn’t meant to run it in 2019 and that’s ok. . . With that said, I have some backup plans in the works. Hoping that this lights a fire under me and gets me hyper focused in my training so that next time I’m fast enough to qualify for Chicago instead of going via lottery. . . Finally, congrats to all those who got in - go and crush it next year! 👊🏻 . . 📷 from today’s easy 5k with 6x20s strides.

There’s something about knowing you’ll be running hard for multiple miles that leaves me 😳 The last time I had a tempo workout 4 weeks ago, it was 4 miles long and after mile 1 I positive split hard til the end 😂 ————————————————————————- Today I had a similar workout but 5 miles. I was nervous, but saw @howeaboutarun’s post beforehand, and she mentioned to not count yourself out before you even start. So, I kept telling myself I got this, I was gonna focus on the mile I was in and give it my all.. and I did! I faded a little mile 3 but gutted it out 💪🏼 And realized afterwards, this is the fastest I’ve ever ran 5 miles! ————————————————————————- So moral of the story, don’t count yourself out, even if you’re nervous tell yourself you’re gonna go out there and give it your best effort, and know you have more even when it hurts 😉 ————————————————————————- 2 mile warm-up 4 x 60yd strides 5 mile tempo: 7:16, 7:17, 7:24, 7:20, 7:16 (7:18 avg) 1 mile cool-down

  • Lately I feel all foggy. Iritated, agitated at things. It's driving me crazy. The solution is I must run. Pump the tunes & beat out my frustrations on the earth with every stride. But have you seen outside? Too much ice, too much snow. Urgh!!! So not safe. But running calls to me. Its my jam! So until the weather turns around or at least all the ice melts I will get my sweat on at home & hope it lifts the fog.

  • So today while I was running, a student in jeans came running down the stairs of the bleachers and onto the track. He proceeded to run right next to me for about 100m before he started walking. So. Strange. . Anyways today's workout was: - 1 mile warmup - 7 × 400 m repeats at 5k pace - 100m walking recovery between repeats - 1.35 mile cooldown .   • Oil Creek 100 has come and gone. With health issues and lack of training this years trip was more about enjoying the experience of running. From camping and exploring the trails around Oil Creek Campgrounds, to exploring Titusville and learning about the early history of the town, meeting new people, and having family along for the journey. The goal of this race was simple, finish. I knew coming into this particular event, with the elevation, my asthma would be terrible on the hills and so it was. The first 23 km I lead the race feeling comfortable but it was just on one of the big climbs, after the second aid station, I began to have difficulties breathing. I ended up adjusting my pace slower and slower until I could manage to run without having issues breathing. I knew it was going to be a long day for me so I expected this outcome. We had a lot of rain which made the course wet and muddy. My feet were becoming macerated which caused my feet to hurt severely for the second half of the race. I know how to grind, grind and grind and that’s what I did until my ankle couldn’t walk anymore with 12 miles to go resulting in a very slow limp and dealing with pain going up, down, and on the flats. Overall, this was my last big race and I enjoyed each moment. The volunteers and aid stations were some of the best and couldn’t be happier to have such supportive people out there helping us. The main goal is to stay hungry. I know I have the potential and these races will be good experience. I have a lot of race planning to do for next year but in the meantime I’ll be trying to get my foot healthy again for The Beav 50 km at Hilton Falls Conservation Area on November 10th.
