  • Sometimes you just need a quiet moment and a nice salad. 🥗 I’ve been laying low for a few days. Just feeling a bit overloaded on the home front. Monday marked one year since my step dad passed away and 18 years since my grandpa passed. They both were young, healthy and lost courageous battles against cancer. 💔 Today I was SO grateful that my cleaning job ended sooner than normal and I was able to have a moment to myself. So so important. We can’t pour from empty cups. Taking a few days and finding those little moments to show yourself some love and appreciation makes all the difference. . . . @dreamstreamcafeandlounge #selfcare #missyou #quiettime

  • A big part of emotional intelligence is the ability to feel an emotion without acting on it. >——////——////——////——> Most of the things we’re upset about are not really the things we’re upset about. That is why it is so important to hit pause before you act when you’re feeling strong emotions. Give yourself space to feel and identify the emotion you are having and then ask yourself — am I reacting to the current situation or am I reacting to something that has happened in the past? >——////——////——////——> When you take this pause and really look at things honestly, you can begin to identify old hurts and traumas that you are holding on to. Old patterns that are running in your background programing and hijacking your behavior and energy. Think about it…Our experiences shape our reactions and if we never pause to edit and take out the trash, we’ll keep moving through life in a dysfunctional pattern — a vicious cycle where we never heal past wounds because we keep unconsciously reopening them. Where we’ve acquiesced and allowed ourselves to believe that this is who we are. It does not need to be that way. You do not have to live a life of unpleasant emotions and reactions or feeling emotionally drained. >——////——////——////——> Next time you have a strong emotion that makes you want to react, just pause and assess where that is coming from. It is up to you to decide if you want to react from the person you used to be or from the person you are now. This practice of being mindful of your pre-programmed reactions will allow you to heal old wounds and grow into the best version of your loving self. ✌🏻🖤Becs >——////——////——////——>

  • Rest is just as important as going balls to the walls. . Actually, it’s probably MORE important. . Rest is where progress happens. It’s where your body recovers, muscle fibers repair, your nervous system rests, your mind decompresses, and stress dissolves.👋🏼. . Trust me, I’m a go-getter girl who’s all about the hustle and grind, but I’ve learned the importance of taking rest days. It’s still not real easy, but I know that every time I do it, I come back stronger the next day 💪🏼. . As much as I hate that I had Lyme disease, one of the best things it taught me was the importance of rest, second to this: you are stronger than you even know💯. . Give your body rest, and it will reward you. Prioritize sleep, rest days, and days where you will do nothing, and watch your progress in the gym go to a whole new level. . . . #midweekmotivation #trainertips #healthcoach #personaltrainer #fitinspiration #empoweredwomen #restandrecovery #slowdownalittle #bodylove #fitnesstips

  • Trying super hard to remember this today. I’m not less of a writer if I don’t churn out 3,000 words a day. Just because I decide I need to get through ten more pages before I go to bed, doesn’t mean I’m a failure if I only write half that. And writing my last book in three months isn’t a standard every book will fall into, so it’s okay if this one is taking three times as long. Some projects are harder to get right than others, and progress— no matter how little of it you make— is still a win. . . #writing #productivity #writingishard #giveyourselfabreak

  • Repost via @stacieswift 🙏🏼💕 >>>> If festive frazzle is setting in, here are some self-care reminders: 🎄It’s OK to pause. Step back; turn off your phone notifications, schedule in some small moments of quiet each day, give yourself an early night. Have a hiatus from the hustle and bustle. 🎄You are allowed to say No. Christmas brings so many demands on time, finances, relationships with family and friends... It’s ok to enforce your boundaries 🙌🏻 🎄Your best is enough. It really is. You can only do what you’re able to do. Give yourself a break. 🎄There is no such thing as perfect. But there’s joy to be had even in the wobbly, imperfect bits! 🌟 (Tiny note to self: It’s also OK to still have presents to buy, to try as many different Christmas coffees as possible and to count advent calendar chocolate as one of your five a day)

  • Yesterday I experienced a type of liberation I didn't understand until becoming a mom. Pax has had a rough few days, he's been cluster feeding in the evenings and VERY clingy. But last night I had to run an errand down in Shakopee, and @savagesarge got home in time for me to leave the baby with him. I was able to be alone. Like actually, truly, 100% alone. Don't get me wrong - I love our boy more than words can describe, but I have not had a single moment where I was really by myself, no other people with me, and not on call for a feed or a diaper change or a cuddle since before I had Paxton. This was my first true solo outing in 5+ weeks, and if I'm being perfectly honest: IT. WAS. AMAZING. 🙌 So I drove down the 169 blasting my music with the windows rolled down (even though it was 24 degrees), and I relished every minute of it. I danced in my front seat and sang at the top of my lungs. I sang to strangers at stoplights. I absorbed my hour of glorious, loud, fun, chaotic peace. I refused to feel ashamed for enjoying my freedom. It recharged me. And I came back home feeling less stressed, happier, and ready to be a kickass mom and wife again. That was my self care. I'm grateful to have a husband who was willing and able to give me that moment. I'm grateful to have a baby who's willing to take a bottle so this mama can leave her baby with his daddy for a while. I'm grateful for the reminder that it's okay to want my body back, to want my personal space back, and to want a break. And for the reminder that I am able to be a better mom and wife and human being when I ask for the help I need 💙 . . . . #momtruth #authenticmotherhood #motherhoodunplugged #boymom #selfcare #giveyourselfabreak #takecareofyourself #loveyourself #selfacceptance #musicup #windowsdown #noshame #momgame #survivingmotherhood #postpartumjourney

  • I’ve been to the moon and back in one quick inhale, and went back for more, I’ve played the game of life and swore I’d never play again, I’ve had dreams that were crushed by the drugs I’ve taken and the people I’ve betrayed, I’m a lost and forgotten name wandering aimlessly throughout a universe with no exit. #seniorpoem #wow #deep #iwrotethis #sobreity #giveyourselfabreak

  • Let's face it - we like pretty things. We want those beautiful rooms we see online come to life in our own houses. But one thing we can't forget is that we actually live in our houses. There are kids' boots and jackets that are scattered in the entrance. There are items that don't seem to have a home and are shuffled from room to room. There is unsightly laundry, paper, clutter and dust. But don't give up on your dreams. Just make them realistic and be honest with yourself. You really want that kitchen with the open shelving, however you have 15 sippy cups, half without lids, and you haven't had pretty plates in years? Maybe do a portion of open shelving for some decor and cookbooks, and put in upper cabinets elsewhere to hide your other items. There is no shame, and no use putting undue pressure on yourself when it's not your strength. Work with yourself, not against yourself. I personally hate to dust, so the majority of my bookshelves have glass doors to help me out. I also have a junk closet (apparently I have too much for a simple drawer), but I maintain order in other areas. Functional doesn't have to be cold and unloved. And beauty doesn't have to be unusable. The perfect design marries the two. . . . . #beautifuldesign #functionalspaces #loveyourself #everyonehasdifferentstrengths #giveyourselfabreak #youcanhaveprettythings #bonnieindesign #designtips #callyourselfout #letsbehonest #interiordesign #style #decor #home #homedesign #lifestyle
