Happy Valentine’s Day to my amazing Insta fam, I am sending you all a big hug and much love today! ❤️🧸
So I have never been a fan of this particular holiday as I can’t say I have ever had a great one. And I heard something on a TV show last night that I was watching that made me laugh but still resonated - it makes people who are single feel more lonely and those that are in relationships feel like failures because it wasn’t this magical experience they expected! 🤔🤷🏼♀️
So whether you love it or hate it or could care less, enjoy your day. I definitely felt special when my friends a @catherinesplus sent me these adorable pj pants, robe, bralette and undies to celebrate. They have such a great collection of comfy cozy options and I love this shade of red. I also had fun mixing my prints and patterns. ❤️
As you can Mr Bear is my date for tonight. We will be eating something good and watching TV. 🥰🧸🥰

Let people judge you. Let them misunderstand you. Let them gossip about you. What they think of you isn’t your problem. Their opinion do not pay for your bills. So stay kind, committed to love, and free in your authencity, and no matter what they do or say, never doubt your worth and the beauty of your truth 👑👑❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ 🥰🥰🥰🥰
Happy Friday 📸 @mr.peprah .
Today, in class, we had a guest speaker who "reads faces".
Frankly, I don't fuck with that.
However, I wanted to be more informed and stood up and said "I honestly don't believe in this but I'd like to see what you have to say about my face and perhaps I can understand better".
As expected there were butthurt ppl talking 'bout "oos and ahs" about me having said that but as we know, I can care less. .
We discussed how sometimes different issues can affect mental health and I inquired about whether or not mental health can affect these so called readings he does.
What took me by surprise, however, was the fact that one particular person that rarely speaks to me (I'm sure she will see this as ppl in my class love to tell each other things without valid evidence) took that moment to tell me that she had noticed I constantly use my mental health as a crutch or an excuse and that due to that I will never get better.
I was actually not offended.
She doesn't know me and as far as I know, doesn't follow me here so I cannot really fault her for not being informed.
It did however, touch a nerve because even though I HAVE INDEED used my mental health as an excuse in certain situations, I speak on it regularly for that EXACT reason!
There is such a horrible stigma around mental health illness and I HATE that.
Mental illness is a REAL thing.
It is not an excuse.
It is not something you just get over and it most definitely is not something I take lightly.
It is a chemical imbalance in the brain that affects ones actions and emotions.
It took me almost 6 years to understand why I am how I am and why I had these suicidal, depressed, crazy rampages.
Having understood mental health illnesses more clearly gave me such clarity and helped me to understand so much about myself.
I speak on it because it is NOT shameful.
It is NOT an excuse.
It is a fact about me and my life and others who deal with it can be influenced by my words and my actions and SEE that it is perfectly ok to he a little sick.
I will NOT stop speaking about it. I will NOT stop owning it. And I sure as hell will not get better if I act like it is nonexistent. .
Your normal isn't my normal.
I’ve got that Friday 5pm, leaving my desk kind of feeling.... Who else is up for Happy Hour? 🍻🍸🥂🍹🍷💙 🛍: My office to drinks look can be found through the @liketoknow.it app with the exception of my blouse which I’m borrowing from @gwynniebee . Did you know you can have an endless closet with their clothing subscription service? It’s perfect for trying new trends or just to wear a new piece to work each week. The shit’s in the hips! 💩✨
This is me in real time after a very needed hip-opening session! In yoga, there's an idea that we hold emotion and tension in the hips. When our hips are tight and closed -- think of the constant position of our hips when we sit and drive, we close ourselves off emotionally. When we allow our hips to open, we allow for our emotion and tension to be released. This can sometimes be very moving — I’ve been in many classes where someone begins to cry. It’s beautiful and powerful
I knew it was time for some hip opening because my tension has been high and I've felt contracted and closed off emotionally. Personally, I notice a direct correlation between the way my body moves post-yoga for 24-48 hours after class. There’s a reason why Movement is the second pillar in SWM because the way we move is the way we are, and I prefer a happier mood, brighter spirt, and more grace. I’M BACK 💃🏻 #soulwellnessmethod ⠀
