They will thank you! Thanks for sharing @miss_sunitha #inflexibleyogis ・・・ Learning to press up into a headstand isn’t an easy thing to do. But one way to learn effectively is to build awareness during the preparation, while walking the feet in to stack the hips above the shoulders. . I always say inversions generally begins when we still have both feet on the floor. As we walk the feet in, we want to maintain a lift in the body so that we create a lifting session that promotes lightness, reducing weight on the neck and head. So as the feet comes in, energy continues to move upwards instead of sinking down. . How? Before walking the feet in: ▫️press the forearms down to push the floor away ▫️lift the heels high ▫️imagine a block between your thighs (or use an actual block!) - press the imaginary block UP, as if you’re trying to lift the block up with your thighs and your lower belly . When walking the feet in, try to keep all of that. So as you walk in... ▫️press heels up ▫️press thighs up ▫️lift lower belly up ▫️lift hips up ▫️push the floor away . When you’re walking the feet forward, essentially you’re not just moving forward, you’re moving forward AND UP! In fact, when you maintain the lift up, you wouldn’t need to bring the legs in so much.   • Two reasons for this post (2nd is more important 😅): . 1) People have been asking/commenting on Maui (the geode I got in Hawaii and bathed in the ocean out there). Amethyst is my favorite stone, Maui is my favorite amethyst (I have many, including the stone that never leaves my body aka around my neck), and I even sleep with him next to my bed eveynight. Being in physical contact with amethyst (necklace) increases its physical healing properties and having it under your pillow or near your head at night helps with dreams (emotional/spiritual healing) 🔮 . 2) Waffles just got a new harness that he LOVES and it’s a little tux!! 😍😍😭😭 I cant get over it and he looks so cute!!   • . Truth. . Been working on my headstands ONLY these last few weeks. . Honestly I have never in my life held a headstand. Not that I ever put a lot of attention to it— but I will tell you to didn’t come naturally. . I practiced up against the wall on my bed. I practiced up against the end of my bed with only my head/shoulders backed to the mattress. I practiced inches away from my bed not touching anything but my hands flat to the ground and elbows out. . Once I could center and control in the middle of the room— I gradually worked on change in positions with my arm foundation and leg shaping. I finally have strength and balance to have flat arms and hands down on the earth. 🙌🏼 Next I will be working on bringing those elbows in closer to my head—softly adjusting and keeping a flow of movement and embracing where I am. It’s so good to be proud of yourself. ❤️ . I also haven’t been able to do the splits since high school. I’m about as flexible as a #2 pencil. But I am now about 5 inches away from touching in side splits!! Chinese splits have a long way to go still— But suddenly it will happen just like all the other. The moment will come. And I will be proud again welcoming the new accomplishment. 🤗 . Back in the day I never dared try out for the Drill Team in school because of my un-flexibility and lack of dance background. I was in awe and envy of all the girls that danced during half times when I was a little girl. 🤩 Seriously dreamy for me. . My Sophomore year I braved and geared my guts to try out for the Drill Team. I put in the effort. The heart. The struggle. And extra hours of practice with my patient cousin. 🙏🏼 . I conquered the splits! I conquered the wobbly pirouette’s! And conquered my fears of feeling unable or incapable! All these fears/inadequacies no longer was a part of me. I did it. I made my impossible possible. . A month ago I couldn’t even touch my toes— Even with my long tree branch arms. . Practice your goals. Think of your goals. LOVE and ACCEPT the process of YOUR transformation. You’re not working for disappointment— You are working for celebration! . Reaching is pushing you closer. Holding on is getting you there. ❤️ .

Meditate daily - it makes such a difference even if I only do 5 minutes and build up from there. 2. Move/exercise daily - walk, yoga, something more intense...it just needs to happen. I'm happier, healthier and feel better overall. 3. Finish some of the certifications I've been working towards. Do you know how bad it sucks to genuinely want to go to a class so bad but it seems as if you’re stuck on the couch. Or that everyone there is gonna see it written on your forehead. Throw anxiety in there & damn if I don’t start second guessing everything about myself. I’ve tried so hard to stay positive this week & then I’ve even let myself sink in these feelings because I know they’re coming from somewhere. Idk. I’m rambling. Just recently have I formulated my beliefs around a Divine Being. I knew there was one but I couldn’t comprehend how It balanced feminine AND masculine energies; as I am fully aware that both do exist and are NEEDED! . . Then it clicked, it was like putting on glasses for the first time, everything became crystal clear! Over the past year, this disconnection from the Great Spirit has cause me much stress and anxiety. Not knowing what to believe, left me angry and confused. But now that I know my truth, my belief, I’m eager to reconnect and embrace This Loving Energy! . .   • This has been one of those weeks that feels like big expansion and growth. I spent most of Tuesday either on the phone or behind my computer planning the next few months. I am so excited about what is coming but I can also feel old friends like anxiety & fear creep in. I realized after a few hours of working that my arm pits were dripping with sweat. This has always been my body’s fear response ever since I was a kid. Nerves kick in and so do my pits. 🤦🏻‍♀️ Not cute but it is what it is. In stepping into this cannabis world I have spent quite a bit of time experimenting with situations that I feel like I can get a little support through consuming. I spent Tuesday micro dosing myself to the point where I was still very functional but also felt like the edge had been taken off. What I realized is that cannabis can help me get out of my own way. I can look at the fear and anxiety and say “I see you. I thank you but I am doing this anyway.” How does cannabis support you? 📸 by the talented @lindapianigianiphoto

We’ve done so much on these trails: from the countless miles, 1,000s of pushups, trees climbed, downed, stacked, lifted, and thrown. Not to mention the hours and hours pushing ourselves so far beyond our comfort zones that we forget what a comfort zone is. Every time I do a headstand, I collapse into my neck and usually fall out of it. This coming from the girl who used to be able to hold a headstand for ten minutes no problem. I am fairly certain in injured my neck from falling out of one which is what caused the instability, but today is the first time I’ve been able to headstand in a month without pain. Doesn’t mean it wasn’t hard as hell. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Yoga is a practice. Yoga sometimes is beautiful headstands and poses and inversions and balance. Yoga sometimes is frustration, tears, shaking breathing and a shaky body.
