  • One aspect of competitive bodybuilding I have always struggled with has been time away from the stage. I donโ€™t feel I have ever truly been able to reconcile myself to being heavier... to truly being OK walking around without being completely shredded. SO.... at the end of last years competition season- when I knew I planned to take extensive time away from the stage- I really took the time to pray about my path, to get God involved and to ask Him to give me strength to attack my off-season with the same disciplined mindset I approached all of my contest preps with. And He has been faithful. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป _ By His strength I have consistently done what I needed to do these last 13 months, been focused with my reverse, then my maintenance and massing, have added muscle and kept fat gains minimal, have been strategic with my training, and most of all, I have paid close attention to building my mind, not just my body. I couldnโ€™t be more proud of the place Iโ€™m in. Do I have my moments of weakness and doubt? Of course. Do I โ€œlove my bodyโ€ every time I look in the mirror?   • My heart swelled up so big with love over these last 7 weeks - making the heartache even greater when I think about not having this little guy by my side 24/7. Or maybe it's first-time mom syndrome - or maybe just a lot of both. I keep telling myself that I should feel fortunate & blessed to have a child that makes going back to my full-time job so difficult. I know we'll (I'll) be okay. Many people keep telling me that it will all be okay. And while I know that's true, there's not a lot that can be said to make the transition to reality much easier. There's a job waiting for me & for that I'm grateful. But I can't help but feel responsible for this guy & thinking it's unfair that I'm forced to leave him for a big chunk of the day. Other than Croix learning to eat from a bottle, I know returning to work & dropping him off at daycare will prove much harder for me. But I also like to think he may miss these mom & me snuggles, too. ๐Ÿ’™ I know so many of you mamas out there have done this - once or many times. You rock. ยท ยท This postpartum stuff rears its ugly head at times, but I'd rather experience these feels 100x over than not at all. We love you so much, Croix Alan. And your mom will be okay..   • So when I first saw these side by side I thought ohhhhh heck no, no one needs to see this. I promote eating clean and being active and I gained a couple lb's. BUT so much more happened these past 4 months and gaining a little weight ranks low on the list. The picture on the left was taken in August, I was at the gym 5X a week, training for a 10 mile race, going for bike rides 3-4X a week and eating very, very clean. The picture on the right was after my last final, after 4 months of being in school, learning my butt off, getting a 4.0. Gym 3X a week, only going outside when absolutely neccesary bc Michigan winters, eating the occasional pizza and Mcflurry and by occasional I mean more than I want to admit lol. Life changes and we have to adjust to those changes and learn along the way. You can adapt a healthy lifestyle to a busy schedule and still flourish. You probably shouldn't eat pizza every Sunday for dinner and reward yourself with ice cream for every little thing lol but consistency in the gym and in your meals can offset those choices. ALSO in both pictures, I am so happy, so strong and living my best life and that's truly what matter most. I've learned so much about health and wellness and how to adapt to a busy schedule. I honestly did not believe that going to the gym only 3X a week was enough. LOL. I PR'd every gol-darn-dang lift this semester. So what I'm trying to say in all of this is: Life changes, adapt and always try your best. Your worth/beauty is not determined by what your body looks like. All entrepreneurs trying to better ourselves and succeed. As uncomfortable as it is to look at the bottom picture, i know i am not staying there. As a group fitness instructor, I may be fit but i have the same struggles and insecurities as everyone else. Yes, this is fluid but also contains empty calories and a bunch of stuff your body does not need. A study by the University of Connecticut found that your body and energy levels can alter the through lack of water intake . Being dehydrated can lead to fatigue, lack of concentration, feelings of anxiety and headaches. This can all have a knock on effect and may effect your job performance, your mood, ability to make good choices, especially at mealtimes and lack of enthusiasm to go workout. Keep your body and mind healthy and happy by drinking pure water. Do not like water ? Sexy it up by adding fruits, vegetables and herbs. How much should I drink ?   • One aspect of competitive bodybuilding I have always struggled with has been time away from the stage. I donโ€™t feel I have ever truly been able to reconcile myself to being heavier... to truly being OK walking around without being completely shredded. SO.... at the end of last years competition season- when I knew I planned to take extensive time away from the stage- I really took the time to pray about my path, to get God involved and to ask Him to give me strength to attack my off-season with the same disciplined mindset I approached all of my contest preps with. And He has been faithful. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป _ By His strength I have consistently done what I needed to do these last 13 months, been focused with my reverse, then my maintenance and massing, have added muscle and kept fat gains minimal, have been strategic with my training, and most of all, I have paid close attention to building my mind, not just my body. I couldnโ€™t be more proud of the place Iโ€™m in. Do I have my moments of weakness and doubt? Of course. Do I โ€œlove my bodyโ€ every time I look in the mirror?
