Turning 25... to be honest; I was petrified... but a massive thank you to those around me who made my weekend incredible; especially @josh.murrell who drove a 7hr round trip and waited over 5 hours on a beach to watch a turtle come to shore with 20mins of my birthday left and lay her eggs; it was such an incredible experience at Mon Repos and something I will never forget!
They say age is a number; so here’s to another year older...
On Saturday at the fodder store (a farm shop) getting Kev’s food I asked for a couple of other cow things. They said they could try and order them in and checked the suppliers catalogues. They weren’t in the catalogues either. Although they said, they used to be common and added they are not available any more due to the DEMISE OF THE DAIRY INDUSTRY 🙌🏻 This was in a rural shop right in the middle of SA dairy country and was so amazing to hear. We don’t want farmers to be out of work, but don’t want them to exploit sentient beings either. Hopefully they have been supported to transition into viable ethical industries, this is what government funding should have been focussing on for a long time, not bandaids for a wound that is only getting deeper. Times up, animals are not waste, commodities, lesser beings, or machines. #byefelicia#cow#cowsofintsa#animals#animallover#saved#rescued#farm#farmer#sa#sagreat#vegan#plantbased#animalrights#activism#farmlife#farmgirl#rural#country#kuntrygram#aussie#cowsave#auspol
Yay we made it through MONDAY!!!! So today I went for a short stroll down the drive way, along the way I watched the sunrise and felt to cool morning air against my freshly shaved legs...yep I had shorts on so I had to shave (if I could walk in jeans I'd be happy 🤣). I got down to the 2nd dam along the drive way. I took a photo a couple of weeks ago and today I thought every week I will take a photo of that same dam so everyone could see the reality of living and surviving on mother nature.
I was on my way back and thought it go for a bit of a jog (yep all down hill...my Dad said to me he imagined a snow ball effect across the paddock thru the cottage and stopping at the house gate...sorry to disappoint but it would be a dust ball not a snow ball)
Any how as I walk over the house I find those PESKY PIGS digging up my roses and lavender!!! So I send Cess and Jaffa after them! Yep the pigs could not give a rats arse about the dogs. Well we finally get those 6 moving along and then I get closer to the cottage and find another 10 of the little turds digging up the gardens in the cottage...so just to put it in perspective my gardens aren't much they are a few plants here and there but those are the ones I have managed not to kill so I am proud of them! We finally get those moved on and I get back to the house to find the kids chasing the boar around the house yard!
One child was armed with a tennis racket and the other a tube/planter boot of the planter box from the tractor. My girls are thinkers!!! So we get him moved on then the day progressed as normal...I love life on the farm
