Their inventory of consisted of predominantly of children and teenagers who would be taken from Virginia and surrounding States and sold to work the Cotton Plantations. Franklin and Armfield business dealings depended largely on the agents representing the enterprise, who were scattered throughout slave-holding areas of Maryland and Virginia. In Richmond there was R.C. Ballard & Co.; in Warrenton, Virginia, J.M. Saunders & Co.; in Baltimore, Rockville and Fredericktown, Maryland, George Kephart; in Frederick, Maryland, James Franklin Purvis, nephew of Isaac Franklin; and in Easton, Maryland, Thomas M. The African Burial Ground is located at 15th and E. Broad streets in the historic Shockoe Bottom neighborhood, home of Richmond's original 32-block footprint, laid out by William Mayo at the commission of city founder William Byrd, in 1737. Known only as a "Burial Ground for Negroes" on an 1809 surveyor's map of Richmond, Richmond's African Burial Ground was active from before 1750 through 1816. It is notable for being Richmond's first municipal cemetery that was open to the burials of Black people, and for being the site of the city gallows where many of the members of the slave revolt of 1800 were hanged, including its principle organizer and strategist, 24-year old enslaved blacksmith Gabriel, known at the time as "General Gabriel", on Oct. 10, 1800. His burial place is unknown. The struggle to protect this site continues because to date, the Slave Trail Commission has produced no concrete plans for the site's improvement, and because of the larger threat to Shockoe Bottom: an enormous sports, residential and retail development scheme which would marginalize what has only just been reclaimed and forever destroy the rich cultural resources we are only just beginning to comprehend - in scale and significance to Richmond's role in one of the most important developmental components of the history of the United States and its society: the trade in enslaved Africans from 1619 through the civil war. The Burial Ground is the second to last stop on the formal "Trail of Enslaved Africans" which begins on the site of the former Manchester Docks at Ancarrow's Landing. #makeamericapayreparations #ConversationReparations #Ancestors #ancestorsspeak #RichmondVirginia #HamptonVA #fortmonroehistoricsite #FreeTheLand #UntoldRVA #RepublicofNewAfrika #NCOBRA #RichmondAfricanBurialGround #400years #Virginia #RVA

  • #repost haki_kweli_shakur Library of Congress has acquired & made available online The life of Omar ben Saeed a Fullah Slave in Fayetteville, N.C. Collection, which includes the only known surviving slave narrative written in Arabic in the United States. In 1831, Omar Ibn Said, a wealthy and highly educated man who was captured in West Africa and brought to the United States as a slave, wrote a 15-page autobiography describing his experiences. This manuscript is important not only because it tells the personal story of a slave written by himself, but also because it documents an aspect of the early history of Islam and Muslims in the United States. The Omar Ibn Said Collection consists of 42 original documents in both English and Arabic, including the manuscript in Arabic of “The Life of Omar Ibn Said” – the centerpiece of this unique collection of texts. Other manuscripts include texts in Arabic by another West African slave in Panama and from individuals located in West Africa. “It is an important documentation that attests to the high level of education and the long tradition of a written culture that existed in Africa at the time. “ It also reveals that many Africans who were brought to the United States as slaves were followers of Islam, an Abrahamic and monotheistic faith. Such documentation counteracts prior assumptions of African life culture.” According to his autobiography, and to articles written about him in the American press while he was still alive, Said was a member of the Fula ethnic group of West Africa who today number over 40 million people in the region extending from Senegal to Nigeria. Omar Ibn Said, son of a wealthy father, spent over 25 years as a prolific scholar and Muslim in West Africa. When Said was about 37 years old, however, an army came to his home, killed many people, captured him & sold him into slavery. #rememberthe400 #makeamericapayreparations #NewAfrikan #ConversationReparations #REPARATIONSNOW #WECHARGEGENOCIDE #natchez #NewYork #NewJersey #Chicago #Detroit #NewOrleans #Virginia #RVA #fula #newafrikan77wordpress #Africa #thisisamerica #slavebreedi

Virginia Slave Breeding/State We Demand Reparations Now! Human Breeding For Profits we must seriously take action against this tyrannical act our mothers/grandmothers/daughters/children/men Ancestors went through! They must be held accountable! Young women were often advertised for sale as “good breeding stock”. To encourage child-bearing some population owners promised women slaves their freedom after they had produced fifteen children. One slave trader from Virginia boasted that his successful breeding policies enabled him to sell 6,000 slave children a year. Here is how the American slave-breeding industry worked, according to the Sublettes: Some states (most importantly Virginia) produced slaves as their main domestic crop. The price of slaves was anchored by industry in other states that consumed slaves in the production of rice and sugar, and constant territorial expansion. As long as the slave power continued to grow, breeders could literally bank on future demand and increasing prices. By a conservative estimate, in 1860 the total value of American slaves was $4 billion, far more than the gold and silver then circulating nationally ($228.3 million, “most of it in the North,” the authors add), total currency ($435.4 million), and even the value of the South’s total farmland ($1.92 billion). Slaves were, to slavers, worth more than everything else they could imagine combined. it furnishes every inducement to the master to attend to the Negroes, to encourage breeding, and to cause the greatest number possible to be raised… Virginia is, in fact, a Negro-raising state for the other states.” #makeamericapayreparations #NewAfrikan #ConversationReparations #REPARATIONSNOW #WECHARGEGENOCIDE #fuckdonaldtrump #natchez #NewYork #NewJersey #Chicago #Detroit #NewOrleans #Virginia #RVA #fuckcapitalism #Africa #thisisamerica #slavebreeding #breedingfarms #petition #humantrafficking #breedinghumans #slavebreedingstate #commonwealthofvirginia

  • DROP THE ROCK: A Florida woman refused police orders to put down a piece of concrete before two attempts to Taser her missed and she threw the object at an officer, hitting him in the shoulder; she was then tackled, arrested and pepper-sprayed and is now facing several charges. Don’t ever ever ever fall for the false narrative that race soldiers employed as #police unconstitutionally kill unarmed Black victims because they “lack proper police training”. These people have PERFECT training on how to deescalate situations as long as the suspects have the complexion for the protection. Deborah Danner 66 year old woman, had a pair of scissors in her hand, dropped them and picked up a bat, cops could have easily subdued the elderly woman but made no attempts to do so, fatally shooting her. A $2 million settlement was awarded to her family in which all tax paying citizens have to pay for. Art: RevolutionaryArtistry.Com @revolutionaryartistry • • • Jailbreak Out of His-Story: Re-Biography of Harriet Tubman by New Afrikan Amazon Butch Lee: Think about Harriet Tubman. Take six months. In fact, take a year & think. Break it on down. What does it mean to be the most famous New Afrikan woman in u.s. history? What does it mean to be stuck in that lie? What’s the meaning of being famous while being hidden and dis-figured and dissed? Let’s jailbreak Harriet Tubman out of white his-story and place her in Amazon and New Afrikan herstory. Her story, her peoples’ story. Harriet Tubman’s life is a live weapon placed in our minds, showing us what it means to be an Amazon. Which is why the capitalist patriarchy has forbidden us to touch it for so long. In this, maybe for the first time, we can see Amazons as a future force in the clash of peoples & nations. Not as myths, but as players in the whole difficult course of world politics. We can also appreciate the bittersweet tang of reality, as the peeling away of layers of propaganda and disfigurement which have hidden Harriet from us exposes how much we assume and how little we’ve known. First of all, there was nothing mythical or superhuman about her. Harriet Tubman was one Afrikan slave woman among many. And her most striking qualities were qualities she had in common with many other Afrikan women and children, who like her came out of a culture of communal resistance and strength. So to insist on her supposed unique individuality as a compliment, is actually denying her real identity. • • • • #harriettubman #harriettubmanherself #harriettubmanmuseum #tubmancity #maryland #newafrikan #couldoffreedmoreslavesiftheyknewtheywereslaves #DMV #makeamericapayreparations #revolutionaryart #revolutionaryartistry #revolutionaryartist #art #blackartsmovement #freetheland #400years #harrietsgreatescape #maroon #amazon #blackmoses

  • #40acres #NoWhiteManWasAllowed Swipe! Tunis Gulic Campbell Abolitionist; President of The New Afrikan St Catherine's Island (Georgia) Republic; Georgia State Senator. Although not well known, Tunis Campbell is one of the most important Black figures in U.$. history. During the Civil War he was appointed to oversee land claims and resettlements for the Freedmen's Bureau on 5 Georgia Islands: Ossabaw, Delaware, Colonels, St. Catherines, and Sapelo. These lands were seized from Confederate landowners and were to be redistributed to the freedmen for settlement. In 1865 Campbell led a group of freedmen and women to St. Catherines Island, where they settled the land and established their own government. They set up a Supreme Court, wrote their own constitution, held elections for government, and organized a 250-man militia. The land was redistributed in 40 acre plots to each family. A law was passed to forbid any white man from stepping foot onto the Island. Campbell presided as President over the Island Republic until 1867, when President Johnson restored the former slaveowners' land holdings, thus dispossessing the freedmen. A Black U.$. Army contingent was sent to St Catherines to disarm and dispossess the inhabitants at gunpoint. Defeated, Campbell returned to mainland Georgia and was elected to the State Senate. During the Radical phase of Reconstruction, the Georgia Senate, under Campbell's leadership, established universal male suffrage, free public education, and passed other progressive measures. In 1872, as the federal government began subverting Reconstruction, Campbell was impeached on the grounds that he had committed election fraud. He was arrested and imprisoned in a labor camp for one year. After his release he fled North where he died in 1891. • • • • • #makeamericapayreparations #newafrikan77wordpress #georgia #tunisgcampbell #SpecialFieldOrder15 #40acresandmule #georgiaseaislands #newafrikan #thestruggleizforland #seaislandgeorgia #landowners #landownership #civilwar #civilwarhistory #landclaim #landclaims #realestate #realestateinvestor #stolenland #stolenlands #1800maroonautonomy
