  • #StupidExerciseSaturdayMM: Organic Strength > Linear Strength . There’s always going to be a new trend when it comes to training and gaining and as a trainee who wants to make the MOST gains in the LEAST time, it’s your job to make sure you correctly filter through these trends so that you make gains that give you improvement over a WIDE range of goals rather than a narrow one . A great example of this is how “Organic Strength” is now a popular thing. Pushing, pulling, and squatting is unorthodox directions and ways. Building this kind of “non-linear” strength isn’t a bad idea at all. But what IS a bad idea is to think this is somehow better than the more normal and linear strength. Why? . Just for fun let’s refer to linear strength as Genetically Modified Organism (GMO) Strength for this post 😂. The thing about GMO strength versus organic strength is that getting stronger enough GMO strength will probably give you plenty of organic strength from the start! For example, being able to perform Planche Pushups makes the earlier organic movements no problem to perform. They’re quite easy, in fact . Same goes for various pulling movements. If you’re able to do a One Arm Chin-Up, that “GMO” strength will probably allow you to have plenty of “Organic” strength for free. The reverse statement isn’t so true. And let’s not even get started on leg strength. Your squats can be “organic”, “grass-fed”, “paleo”, AND “vegan” but they’ll still never get the same level of strength and power that “GMO” strength will with Back Squats and Deadlifts as your main goals . This doesn’t mean Organic strength work is bad. It just means that it shouldn’t be prioritized at the expense of your more normal strength training and gaining. The base of your strength training should be the more normal goals. Planche Pushups, OACs, Back Squats etc. And the organic strength can supplement those for prehab or just being a fun way to enjoy using your new gains . So get aboard the (GMO) Gain Train and make your normal gains first! Then add organic if needed and as desired! 💪

  • Movement is innate. Sometimes it looks complicated / fancy / too tricky. As a student you think OMG how am I going to do that 🙈 and as a teacher you think OMFG how am I going to teach that? 😂 When in fact there are only a few words necessary (and no dance experience needed 😉). When you ask your body to move ... you have to remember the body is DESIGNED TO MOVE! A good movement technique will allow you to tap into the innate intelligence of your body in motion. 🌟

  • There’s no wonder why it’s called the Gyrotonic Expansion System. If you haven’t yet checked out Gyrotonic, you should put it on your list. This is definitely one of the most sophisticated movement systems out there and it has taught me so much about the body from a bodyworker’s perspective. Whereas Pilates works more on a muscular level, Gyrotonic works more on the bony structure through joint and spinal articulation. The two systems are great complements to each other. Intelligent movement is the way to go if you want to age gracefully. 🤓

Att jobba med andras kroppar är underbart spännande, men att själv också bli ledd är så nödvändigt för att behålla balans. Och jag älskar Garuda. Denna smarta och djupt kroppsinkännande teknik, där så många samband av kontraktion och öppning ständigt startar, för att skifta sömlöst till en annan slinga i kroppen. En annan vinkel, en ny tanke - allt ger variationen som vårt fasciasystem så gärna önskar. Så ofta som möjligt. Så organiskt som möjligt.   • @movnat Snacks Challenge Day 5: Gait. Today I am back at the office. One daily practice that I have is that if I am at the office, and have a break (which I usually do), then I go outside for a shortish movement snack involving running, jumping, crawling, climbing, etc on a diverse set of parking/wood lot obstacles before I eat lunch (5-20 minutes). Typically when I am returning, I pass by and move underneath this sign. • Many movement patterns are gait patterns. For today, I demonstrate stepping under slowly and quickly, as well as stepping over and stepping upward. • These are relatively "simple" movements which many of us take for granted until they become more difficult. They are certainly not flashy; you will not see a station for things to step over and under at the gym (not yet, anyway!). As always, there are many regressions that can be made, such as changing the height at which one goes under or over. • #NaturalMovement #MovNatSnacksChallenge #MovNatSnacks #OrganicMovement
