If you scroll thru my phone on the other hand and you peek at my “hidden” photos you will definitely find a slew of “progress pictures.” 💞 You see, for me I don’t believe in the scale. For me the scale is not accurate. The scale does not reflect who I am or all the hard work that I have put in, and the scale definitely doesn’t reflect how I feel mentally. The scale reflects one thing and one thing only; a number, and for me, that number is of no use. 💞 What does this picture reflect? This picture reflects hard work, dedication and mounds and mounds of determination. This picture on the left reflects a girl, a 15x half marathoner and a 4x full marathoner who was in constant pain. This picture reflects a girl who also had heart and determination but also a girl who ran from her problems and who couldn’t pick up anything heavier than 20 pounds. But, that girl on the right, who is that? Well, she’s the same girl, but the girl on the right eats cleaner, sleeps better, no longer runs, is no longer in chronic pain, who attempts to face her problems head on, and oh that girl, yea she can deadlift a large man. That girl also weighs 25 more pounds than the girl on the right, yet is the leanest she’s ever been and mentally and physically the healthiest which currently means the world to her. 💞 Do I still love that girl on the left? Absolutely, because she paved the way for the girl on the right.   • On the 6th day of Christmas my true love sent to meeee more spinal mobility! 🎅 Floss your bow! (Sped up 2x) 🎅 I am a huge fan of just doing more stuff from positions that are starting to feel good. What I mean by that is, a lot of stretches/positions you move into may feel stiff and tight when beginning, but over time these ranges open up 🎅 When applying stress to specific tissue area ACTIVELY over time you will be capacity within these ranges. This specific movement is a great example of taking something that is great (strengthening the lateral line) and adding more to it! 🎅 As I laterally flex and get to my end range, I like to add rotation with my torso to floss my tissues. He had done all kinds of sports since childhood especially tennis, soccer ,paddletennis and surfing. Almost 6 months ago he was surfing when he start feeling weakness and numbness sensation in the legs. Hours after he couldn’t almost walk so he decided to go to the hospital. In 3 days he visited 3 hospitals and after several tests the diagnosis was: narrowing spinal canal, herniated disc L5, osteoarthritis and synovial fluid. Doctors decided to operate on emergency. Other injuries he had suffered: 10 and 11 ankle sprains in both ( made him give up soccer) 1 knee sprain and grade 3 chondromalatia patella. We have trained for 3 months in all the dysfunctions and he is currently with zero pain with solid results and improvements in all the plains of movement and gait cycle. Now he is starting to apply all he learned in his sports activities with zero pain.

Jacob spent the night right next to me, and the next day I got to go home with a nifty wound vac and some parting gifts! My scar got really swollen around day 10, but it has since gotten significantly better (though I still don't like it). I am just so happy to be able to move again!!!   • Thoracic outlet syndrome (TOS) series continued. * 🤽‍♂️ active chest opening exercises 🤽‍♂️ * We’re still talking about posture and how it relates to TOS and many other ailments that I see in the clinic daily. * In previous post we went over ways to strengthen the external rotators of your upper arm. Now we are going to go over very specific exercises that open your chest. We all know the door way pec stretch, but let’s spice it up a bit! ⬇️ * 1️⃣ face down KB hovers: (front page) this exercise forces you to squeeze your shoulder blades together causing a reflexive relaxation of the chest muscles. This phenomenon is called reciprocal inhibition. * 2️⃣ slowly resisted chest fly negative: this exercise forces you to bring increased tension to your chest muscle as it lengthens. This is great for increasing control in the open chest position. * 3️⃣ eccentric to isometric wide push up: this exercise is definitely higher level because it requires increased shoulder control. Like the previous exercise this increases control in the open chest position. * Remember static stretching 🙆🏼‍♂️ is great 👍🏿, but the effects usually don’t last without gaining control into that new range of motion. * Did you find this helpful?   • When I first arrived here for PT, I couldn't bend or touch my toes without pain. I couldn't lie on my back, pick up my grandbabies, or do my work as a daycare provider. I couldn't take long walks with my husband or grandchildren. As I leave here today, I am back to work doing my full duties, and best of all, I can pick up my youngest grandchildren, play and do our walks and hikes. This weeks challenge is to build to an 8 minute hold in this position. You might start day 1 at 30 seconds or 2 minutes. The goal is to maintain good form adding time each day till you can hold for 8 minutes✅ Key points: Form must be CORRECT from head to toe!!!!! 1: feet 🦶 forward NOT turned out. And on the Ground...heels and big toes must stay planted. 2: back FLAT from your pelvis to your neck. NO rounding or arching 3: Body angle and shin angle should be matching or close....you can see here I am struggling to get my trunk more upright 4: if assistance is needed use something behind you a wall is a great 👍 option. DONT hold onto something (the rig👎)in front of you for this drill. If you struggle here you likely lack some posterior control, holding on with arms is less helpful in correcting this.
