Well... running on a Saturday afternoon was not exactly my plan for a fun run. But it was then or never. I was tired, it was hot, and that is perfect combination for a tough run. Honestly, this week was mentally hard to get every single one of my runs done. But hey, at least today I earned a badge of my fastest 10K. That’s how bad I wanted to get it over with😂 6.22 miles in total and now I’m off to rest and enjoy the rest of my weekend🏃🏻♀️

Successful return to racing: 2nd overall. The technicality of the course provided me with the biggest issue. The Michigan winter, and lack of technical trails and vert hurt me on the rugged stuff. I had gastrointestinal issues at mile 13-17. I pulled off of the trail to go to the bathroom twice. I vomited 3-4x and at that point I got pretty concerned. Never considered dropping though. At mile 17 my stomach was feeling better but 3rd place caught me. By mile 20 my stomach settled and I took down a @spring_energy SpeedNut and half of an orange. At that point I dropped the hammer and took second place back and made up huge ground but ultimately I ran out of trail. Very happy with second place. Happy with overcoming adversity now time to recover and put in even more work to win the next one! My first structured week this year, done!! 2 speed workouts & 15 mile long run..felt like the longest week ever😅
I’ve made the mistake before of not keeping up with workouts in the ‘off season’ and paid for it at the beginning of my last marathon training cycle- playing catch up is not a fun game & it’s dangerous! My goals for the year are not running related but I do want to maintain some speed/strength. I don’t want to be desperately searching for my speed when I decide to get back into marathon training! I’ll be running a bunch of shorter races to help keep me on track👌 This morning I looked at my @athlinks profile to get some race ideas, I forgot how many half marathons I’ve ran! I used to LOVE them!

Chill recovery run with Miranda today. She hadn't run in a week and was stressing about whether she would be able to make it 5 miles. Pshaw, I said--it takes longer than a week to lose fitness. .
Of course, she had no problem and was in a better mood after the run than before we started. .

Today was really fun because it was a relay meet! 🏃♀️
I ran two relays (both distance of course 😂), and everybody on our team did so well!
I anchored one of our relays and was third leg on the other. The best part was that our girl's team won all three distance relays! 🏆
I can't wait to see what the rest of this track season has to offer!!! 😀
