  • Well... running on a Saturday afternoon was not exactly my plan for a fun run. But it was then or never. I was tired, it was hot, and that is perfect combination for a tough run. Honestly, this week was mentally hard to get every single one of my runs done. But hey, at least today I earned a badge of my fastest 10K. That’s how bad I wanted to get it over with😂 6.22 miles in total and now I’m off to rest and enjoy the rest of my weekend🏃🏻‍♀️

  • ✨This morning I went on a short run and it felt soooo good to move my body and be outdoors. I rarely ever see the sun which explains my super low vitD, that’s a story for another time. Anyway, with the rainy weather and being sick I haven’t been able to be as active as I’d like to be. It’s crazy how much lack of exercise can affect your mood. I become sluggish mentally and physically. The longer you wait to move the harder it is to get up and get going. If you are feeling meh, take a walk or just sit outside and breathe. Doooo ett. . 👟P.S I need new running shoes, currently running with @adidas. Blisters on both inner arches at mile 3 doesn’t sound promising for a half marathon....Once my feet started hurting I immediately wanted to stop and just walk. I then thought about @colinobrady how he crossed Antartica by himself with a sled. (Listen to his podcast with @joerogan). Each step I took forward was inspired by him, humans are capable of so much. We just give up too quickly. I focused on my breath and tried to find my flow state of mind. I finally understand why people like to run and the runners high is a real thing. . Here are my go to items for a short 6km run on a day like today: 🏃 ✓ Arc'teryx GAEA JACKET ✓ Arc'teryx RHO LT bottoms ✓ Arc'teryx NORVAN LD W shoes ✓ Arc'teryx TRINO BEANIE ✓ Lululemon 5 Peaks ambassador short sleeve ✓ 5 Peaks running mitts ✓ Happy Trails Racing buff ✓ Garmin Forerunner 235 ✓ Darn Tough ankle running socks Not shown is my workout bra and underwear both New Balance. Keep in mind what kind of runner you are, I get hot quickly so I don't require many layers and I wasn't planning on being out long enough to get chilled. If you are new to winter running you will need to experiment on what gear works for you. I usually don't carry water with me if it's a run shorter than 10k and if I'm coming straight home. For trail runs longer than 5k but shorter than 15k I usually carry a running vest with my water bladder, natural supplements for cramping and maybe some Cliff Blok Energy chews. For longer runs, that's a whole different post. Now off to drink a crap load of water. The ONLY thing I enjoy about cold weather is running in it! 💥 Maybe that’s why God gave me the love of running, so I’d appreciate the cold! 😜🤷‍♀️ . I know running isn’t for everyone (but don’t knock it until ya try it), but find something that ignites your soul, that both challenges you + motivates you, that gives you a natural “high”. Then embrace it with all you’ve got! ❤️❤️❤️ . Speaking of challenging, if you haven’t reached out to me yet about the 16 week challenge I’m starting very soon, and are interested, let me know! If you can’t change it, change your attitude.” Maya Angelou 6️⃣0️⃣ minutes of #endurance at @orangetheory this morning after taking time to sleep in a little bit. Even an extra hour makes a huge difference. Can I get an Amen? 🙏🏻🙌🏻 Today’s workout was really challenging because it was core focused and because we had to match our row for distance and run for distance. That’s hard to do in the same amount of time as you’re getting more fatigued. I made it 680 meters in 2 1/2 minutes and then ran 0.5 miles before time was called. Repeat x2 and end the block with a static squat and 😵 Have you ever played that game: Would You Rather? Would you rather add 2 hours of sleep to the day or add 1 more day to the weekend? Happy Saturday!

  • And when the going gets tough, the tough get going. 😤 • This run was not an easy one for me. I woke up tired and sore, def should’ve skipped that workout yesterday. I can’t even count the amount of times I said to myself, “just finish this mile and you can be done.” 🤦🏼‍♀️ • But I knew that was just my brain and that my legs had so much more left in them. So I kept pushing through that mental weakness and finished those crazy, hilly 16 miles! 🏃🏼‍♀️🙌🏻 • Happy Saturday!

  • A 37K morning run to start off the long weekend!  14K solo run, 17K with the @runninjas and finished off with a 6K Cool Down.  I originally went with my Freedom ISOs but it was just too icy on the sidewalks so decided to turn back right away and changed into the Peregrine 7 ICE+s for better traction!  Felt good and strong on today's run which is a big confidence booster for the upcoming LA Marathon.  5 weeks till race day! . . 📷: @optimismninja
