3000m around Armagh was 🔥🔥🔥
Solid 2km, ended with a 9.31, equaled my PB but on roads. .
Loved pulling on the England vest and chipping away at my fitness 🏴 .
Well done to the Cambs crew, you all smashed it 👌🏽
See ya next year 🤛🏼
It’s been a weird week. I’ve been feeling old. What I mean by that is it’s taking me longer to recover from training stress. For 9 straight years I was in pretty damn good shape, doing my thing in the mountains and the gym with minimal setbacks. This is the first time I’ve had to really come back from being “detrained” and it’s been slower than I expected. I get frustrated easily with my lack of energy throughout the day and soreness that lingers longer than it used to. I also get pissed that I can no longer eat whatever the hell I want because I train my ass off and still have a six pack. That’s going to take more dedication to nutrition.🥺 It’s hard for me to separate simply getting older and just starting further back in the process than I’ve had to since I first started running. I’m sure it’s a combo of both - but wow the mind games that go through your head when you’re feeling tired and weak. One thing I am committed to is the long haul. It might be more work for the same results but I’ve never been afraid to work. That might be what I hold onto until the weird old feeling passes. It will pass. I’m only 36.😂
Month of Buckles #11 is...Black Hills 100 near Sturgis, South Dakota!
The buckles from this fantastic 100 are something else. This is the one from 2016. Tomorrow is the one from 2017 - completely different.
I love this 100! It’s western (where buckles are buckles!), scenic (um...it’s the Black Hills!) with a variety of scenery the whole way, tough, and a simple out-and back on 99% trail.
It’s well supported (big aid stations) manned by runners.
Plus, @blackhills100 has a wonderful old-school, “let’s all go run” kind of vibe you can’t manufacture. The RDs know their stuff.
Recommended enough - and with such beautiful buckles - that it gets two days in the #monthofbuckles
Check in tomorrow to see the other #blackhills100 one!
After weeks of relentless rain and colder than average California temps, the rain FINALLY held off and the sun came out
Finished my first 30K trail race and words cannot express the happiness that I feel
Setting and achieving a goal is powerful for the mind and fuels it for the next one that lies ahead
