Twisted Vintage Valentines Swipe Time: Bondage Valentine. Cannibal Valentine. Suicide Valentine. Stalker Valentine. Kidnap Valentine. And lastly, one I can get behind: Fugitive Hunter Valentine.
Have a safe, happy, laughter-and-chocolate-filled Valentine’s Day everyone. And remember, today marks the day a man was beaten with clubs and beheaded for marrying Christians in defiance of Rome.
“We tell ourselves stories in order to live.” Ever since I read Joan Didion’s The White Album, I’ve been thinking about this famous quote a lot, and how this story started. I wanted to understand as best I could why normal seeming young women my age would commit such horrific acts. Their mugshots and court pictures are all familiar images, but what I wanted to know was how they got there. The script itself started with just Alex and Jay, but adding Sasha does a few things. It shows that people don’t join cults, they join places where they feel they belong. The more I watch the rehearsal clips of their scene together, the more I love it, and I feel like sharing with you. If this is any indication, I think this is going to turn out all right. Check it out in the link in bio while you can. 💖📽
Although Ted Bundy is best known for being a serial killer, he wasn't always a murderer. Elizabeth Kloepfer met him when he was on the cusp of becoming one. They met in a bar in 1969 while he as a college student in Washington, the same year he tried to kidnap a woman, and they would be together for two years before he slayed his first victim.
They stayed together even though she found suspicious things in his house, like women's underwear and materials to make plaster casts. He even threatened to assault her if she didn't keep his secret.

Speaking of love (I know, weird segue-way) I love true crime! Helter Skelter specifically was the book/crime that really drew me into the world. I’ve read this book so many times I could probably recite whole paragraphs to you. I used to feel really odd about this love affair i had with true crime information but feel like recently that I am not the only one. I wrote a little bit about this in one of my more recent blog posts, coffee table books. Do you love true crime? Which “story” is your story? Which one drew you in?
Ted Bundy, and his horrifying killing spree in the 1970s, has captured the nation’s attention for decades. On the heels of the 30th anniversary of Bundy’s execution, a two-hour installment provides new insight into Bundy’s vicious past and crimes. He admitted to murdering at least 30 women and girls, many of whom he kidnapped and sexually assaulted. Authorities believe he may have been responsible for as many as 100 homicides. The documentary features new interviews with key players, including surviving victims and those who were vital in helping place Bundy behind bars.

What else do you do when your sick, other than listen to podcasts all day? I’m just getting into Wondery’s “Over My Dead Body” and it is soooo good! Anyone who knows me knows I’m obsessed with the true crime world and this is right up my ally.
I really love that it’s not super graphic or gory and that it’s a well rounded story. My only complaint is that there’s only 6 episodes in this particular story 😩

Went to get an accounting book for a course I’m taking. I promised myself before going in that I would stay focused for the first time in my life & not look at the true crime section. Employee told me to check the personal finance section for my book. Tested right out the gate. #truecrime#murderino
February 15 2006 tragedy struck when Jennifer Crecente was shot and killed by her boyfriend Justin Crabbe. At trial there was evidence shown of Crabbe with another man purchasing some ammunition which another man as Crabbe could not purchase these by himself due parole restrictions. After originally pleading not guilty Crabbe decided to plead guilty for this shocking crime and received 35 years imprisonment. The only good thing to come out of this shocking event is that 2 non for profit organisations were created with them being Jennifer Ann’s group which is to help prevent teen dating violence which was created by Jennifer’s father and the Jennifer’s hope which was organised by Jennifer’s mother which promotes healthy relationships and preventing teen dating violence.
Y’all, I spend ~10 hours a week driving between work and home. 😳 I listen to a lot of audiobooks and a LOT of podcasts, and my favorites are thrillers and true crime stories!
I loved Dirty John and Dr. Death, and now I’m listing to @wonderymedia’s Over My Dead Body. It’s a 6 episode series about a a bitter divorce that turns into one of the most bizarre murder cases in Florida’s history. :
