Omega-3s are essential fatty acids, meaning our bodies can't produce them so we must obtain them through our diets.
The most commonly known source is fish, but there are plenty of ways to obtain it without consuming fish or fish oils.
The 3 main types of Omega-3s are ALA (short chain), DHA and EPA (long chains). The sources shown contain ALA so in order to obtain DHA and EPA, our bodies convert the ALA.
Can our bodies convert enough for optimal health?
The servings shown provide optimal amounts of ALA for our bodies to convert into the necessary DHA and EPA. The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends 100-250mg a day depending on your age.
If you are not able to consume one of these sources daily, a supplement can be a good alternative. Since fish get their Omega-3s from algae, there are now many algae oil supplements available with pre-converted DHA and EPA.
And it is recommended that pregnant women take an Omega-3 supplement.
Fish and fish oils on the other hand are contaminated with PCBs, mercury, and dioxins. And some tilapia are actually fed flax seed to get their DHA levels higher. But most fish get theirs from algae. And according to the Mayo Clinic "While generally safe, too much fish oil can increase your risk of bleeding and might suppress your immune response. Take fish oil supplements under a doctor's supervision." So it's better to stick to one of these options shown.
Do you eat one of these daily? Which one is your favorite? I personally love adding chia seeds to my oatmeal everyday.

Just for fun! Not taking life too seriously, however living with intention. No worries when things go different than expected. Release of emotions when necessary. Accepting of all versions of myself. Not hung up on past mistakes, live & learn. Impossible to flatline at happy all the time, but I know peace is always with me. I suffer, but i know it’s just another thing to create around. The lows include the highs and the highs include the lows, the separation is only created in the mind. Self-development, self-love, awakening aren’t real goals, they are just ideas. I just want experience, I just want reality, I just want life as it is. Experience will develop me, I don’t need to try to do it. Reality will present love to me, I don’t need to try and seek it. Life will awaken me, i don’t need to force myself out of sleep. So I’m just going to let go and have fun with what is
This is my vegan body. I’ve been vegan for over 3 years, and was vegetarian/pescatarian for 9 years prior. You do not have to eat animal protein to remain athletic, energetic, and full of pizzazz. Plus, meat is McNasty and animals die. Xo

In the end, it’s not about where you are at in comparison to everyone else.
It’s never been about that.
It’s about where you are at in comparison to where you have been.
Always improving, always striving for more and never settling for less...

Since I post fitness/running pics once a day I figured I should explain for those who are new followers! Late in 2017 I decided to take control of my health & fitness and started working out. My family also became vegan at that point, but we primarily made that transition for the animals. We know we can’t save them all, but we don’t want to be the reason any of them suffer. 🌱 Going vegan helped my running game BIG TIME! As a lifelong asthmatic, I could run maybe a mile...maybe. Once I went vegan, I was able to add mileage that I had never been able to run before. 🙌 In late 2018 I was in the best shape of my life, which felt amazing! But...there was something more I needed to do. I tell my daughter that she can achieve anything as long as she works for it, but I realized I wasn’t setting a good example. Children learn more from what we do rather than what we say. So I knew I needed to SHOW her that anything is possible. I was letting fear stop me from doing things I’ve always wanted to do.....so I started a list of goals I wanted to accomplish and gave myself 2 years to complete everything. (And yes- I’ve already started the next list 🤷🏻♀️). I’ve always wanted to get back into music, which has become more than I ever imagined. I’ve also wanted to run a #marathon , which is now in the near future. I run around 70 miles/week and have NO breathing issues at all! 💚🏃🏻♀️ There are many other goals too, which I’ll continue to share. If even ONE person sees me crushing goals and is inspired to find their passion- and do the work to turn their dreams into reality- it makes it all worthwhile. 😘 #marathontraining update: short run tonight (7+ miles) with strength training afterwards. Awesome quick run, negative splits, and looking forward to a long run tomorrow. 🏃🏻♀️🥰
Hallo #liebeslauftagebuch 😊
<> The realities of living with someone doing #Handstand365 😂😂😂 I nearly forgot to handstand today so had to throw a few shapes for the gram before dinner. I mean, I did heaps of handstands but didn't get any on vid so they don't count 🤪 Thanks @geasemonkey 😁
One month without training due to injury/skitrip and being sick, and minus 4-5kg bodymass... I'm back. .
Still need to increase the calories and getting consistent with my training-eating-working routine, but I'll get back even stronger and bigger! Mentally as well.

💣 DEADLIFTS 💣
How do you not love them?
As you see I preform core exercises in between sets.
You need your core to be active for a lift, doesnt matter if its light lift or heavy, but especially heavy the core needs to be strong, so you don't get hurt.
It can be easier to connect the core in the deadlift (in any lift) if you start with a core session or in this case in between sets to remind the core muscles to connect/be active.
Here Im not talking about regular situps that just connect Rectus Abdominis ( the "loaf", "the pack" you see as abs)
you need to find the stability in the whole core.. (front, side back of you)

Is it too late (or too early??) for pumpkin? 😅🎃 Smashing out the bakes lately! Partly due to office demand 😅 in the past and kinda still now, I usually stick to only baking from recipes I find online in fear that I make cookies that go flat, cakes that don’t rise or brownies that tase like dirt🤢 but recently I’ve been taking more risks and either changing up recipes I find (like non vegan one into vegan) or using a recipe as a base and then putting my own flair on! It’s been really fun baking like this and it makes me even more excited to create nice yummy things! I think when I move home I’m going to devote more time to creating and experimenting with baking. Maybe a blog is in order? Idk I’m playing around with the idea 🤔 •

Habits & thoughts: Your thoughts can be your reality, Your habits can be what you do and think. Your habits and thoughts can define your outcome from discipline to mastering self. Knowones perfect everyone seeks happiness, and this is also a habit and thought. Some people were born happier than others and some weren't. but thats ok it can be improved on.
Some of us have to do things that we don't want or like due to different circumstances, it can be very difficult and testing. But! if need must to change a habit just identify the habit you're willing to change first and see if it's bringing you any benefits! If it is then you're ok.. IF NOT!! Then see what triggers it off and make small changes.
It can take a person 18 to 21 days to change their habits or habit depending on the person, the circumstances, the situation, or even the outcome. habits are meant to be broken so make it a good one that you're breaking it for. have a blessed week! One love #veganvibe#veganstrong 👽🌿
